Snoqualmie isn't open and rain is in the forecast as far as I can see. All the other resorts in Washington are having shitty starts to the season. Anyone else's home resort still not open?
i dont have one fucking day on the hill yet, i will ski for a week straight starting in two days, but holy hell, i usually have gotten at least 10 days on the hill, as a standard season for me starts late october / mid november.
In 2005, it basically didn't snow in Washington and much of the West. I was there in February and Snoqualmie was closed due to lack of snow. That was a worse year.
we'll you can go to mission all season and any other boyne place till the 23rd so I'd take advantage of that. I work at Snoqualmie so I can't ski and Im pretty much broke
It's really not that bad at least on the east coast. We had nice cold weather for months to blast snow out. A lot of places got out early, some the earliest they've been open. It's depressing as fuck to get a bunch of powder and then have the rain murder it, but a lot of mountains are still in pretty good shape.
The freezing rain some places got is a huge pain in the balls but a lot of places still have a pretty solid man made base.
Mount Washington didn't really open for the season of 04/05. They gave everyone with a seasons pass for that year a free seasons pass for the 05/06 season to save face.
This. 1000000x this. I'm actually so sad. I had about 8 days this time last season and I was super stoked on it. Literally being deprived of skiing and I've been meaning to go to the mainland to ski. Victorias had more snow -_-
The alps has been pretty bad too. Hasn't snowed for like 2 weeks and the base is like 5cm. and any new snow that falls will avy due to the bad grip between the ground and the base snow
mt. Seymour in Vancouver still isn't open; last year they had about 2 feet by mid-October. it's been pretty cold, just not very much precipitation at all.
my local hill isn't open and the forecast says + whether and rain for the next 10 days so I honestly doubt they will even open this season. Still have a season pass at another hill witch at least is open but thats like 2/3 hours to travel and all the people I ski with is to lazy to ski there more than 1 day a week.. :/
Northern Midwest has been killing it this year. Mt. Bohemia has been amazing. Best opening day I have ever witnesses. They have had 140" so far, 42" in the past 7 days. Snows almost every day up there.
If the weather stays like it has been, they are in for a record year.
Usually I'll have a few days by now. This year all I've gotten was 2 hours hitting a corrugated pipe on some unbelievably shitty mountain in connecticut. I'll be headed to Telluride in a few days but right now I'm pretty depressed.
definitely not as bad as it has been in recent years, id say we're right there at average, maybe a bit above average as far as snow goes. blue bird weather is going to make the resorts a zoo by the weekend though.
welcome to the world of condition dependent sports... if its such an issue work and travel to where conditions are ideal, or deal with it, as this isn't unheard of and do some more fun shit.
