Do you drain the blood under your toe nail?

When you get a bruised big toe, do you do the hot nail technique to drain the blood?

I lost three while in college, but only used the hot nail technique once. The sound of the blood boiling or cauterizing or whatnot was so disgusting not to mention it's always a nerve wracking experience makes it an unappealing option. I never really noticed a difference really. Losing another this year, fuck

i lost both last year. i never drained them and they're pretty much normal again.

I've always been told to use a needle. burn the top with a match and stick it in there.

A family friend of mine is a doctor and came over to help my dad out with one. You take a single razor blade and use the end of it (a point) and spin it around like you're drilling a hole in the top of your toe nail (you actually are) and it make a hole for the blood to drain out. Looked like it hurt but my dad said it was no big and Doc Pimperson said it was the best way to do it.

His name isn't really Doc Pimperson but that's what i actually saw him do and what i would do as well.

sounds like the best way. when i did the hot nail, it clotted the blood like right away so not even much drained out except the first initial shot. but in the end, I don't really remember it making a difference whether I did it or not. shitty timing to have a bad toe though, maybe i'll actually have to go see family for the holidays instead of ski

Hahah I did pretty much the same thing, but used a really small drill but that I held in a flame for a bit, then started twisting it with my hand. I always freak out doing the nail thing but this is fine for some reason, probably because it's slower

The heated drill bit turned by hand is definitely the way to go. No stress about it shooting through and impaling your flesh. If it does scab right up, just drill out the blood and repeat. I personally feel that the release of the pressure under the toe nail is totally worth it. So much less pain.

Red hot needle. Just do it slowly and you won't hurt yourself - there's a bit of fluid space between the nail and the nail bed so it's easy to get it right. Use a clean blue flame from a stove though, not an orange lighter flame. Very satisfying, and instant relief.

damn my right big toe is bruised to shit I need to consider. However, my left toe shows no bruise but hurts the same, if not more. It also goes straight numb after two runs and I stop feeling it. Not sure, first time it happened I thought it was frost bite. Today it is supposed to be 60 at the hill so I will see if it still goes numb. If it does that is non bueno

will try the needle or razor thing later tonight i think

just putting a socks on is a pain, maybe in a couple of days it will be less sensitive and ill be skiing again..

best way to prevent it of being worse would be to strap my boots really tight i presume ?

my big toenail was fully black last year so i drilled into it with a really small drill bit and instant relief. I could barely walk before i did it but i was able to go skiing the same day after drilling it.
