How do you keep your goggles from fogging up without freezing your face ?

This is something I have been struggling with since I started skiing. Whatever face protection I would try would either soak up moisture and freeze, slide down my face leaving my cheeks and nose exposed or fog up my goggles.

So what’s an engineering major to do … design and kickstart your own project that solves this problem.


We reinvented the scarf by integrating a magnet inside it so that it can snap to any set of goggles. It’s also a two-piece design allowing the air and humidity to escape easily so that it doesn’t fog up the goggles.

There is another magnet that mounts under the bridge of the nose on the goggles.

I simply don't wear a facemask except for the rare occasion. On that occasion a yowie is the perfect solution.

Yeah there's a goggle attachment (magnet) that sticks to the bridge of any set of goggles. Each scarf comes with two attachments just in case you have more than one set of goggles.

Microfiber Buff works great for me..Doesn't get wet, I can breath, and covers my face..But good luck N45!

I like the idea, but I rarely have anything over my entire face. I wears face tube around my neck, but when I have it over my mouth or nose it gets wet and uncomfortable.

Thanks for all the feedback ! We're always looking for ways to improve the product and we think getting direct feedback from passionate skiers / snowboarders is the best way to do it.

Whats the difference between this, and just putting a magnet on my goggles and balaclava. Seems to me the only reason it doesn't fog your goggle is because the mask doesn't go under you goggles like some balaclavas do.

Great question Cotter$. I will be sure to add this to my FAQ.

Goggles fog up due to condensation. Warm, wet air, usually from either sweat or your breath, condenses on the lenses because they are colder than the warm air.

Good ventilation helps the water evaporate away. The North45's overlapping 2-piece scarf design allows for the hot moist air to be exhaled outwards instead of upwards towards the goggles which is what typically happens when you tuck your balaclava under your goggles. Without the overlapping 2-piece design the air has no where to go but either accumulate in the material or rise up into your goggles both of which result in a bad scarf experience.
