repost? either way why the hell do all the athletes wear bibs on these huge contests? simply so they can say NAVY during xgames and mountain dew for dew tour? thats fuckin lame. they look retarded
WAY harder to keep track of than you think. Judging happens super fast, and you need to be extremely focused on the rider. Taking your eyes off them for a second to check their names could mean missing a grab, rotation, etc. Numbers are super quick and easy, and you can reference them against a start list later to match to your notes.
in most team sports sure, but not individual. especially subjective exhibition style sports like park skiing and gymnastics. Do you guys really think the judges are reading the number on the bib and cross referencing it? It's just a way for the event sponsors to get their logos on the athletes.
There's a psychological objective element to it as well. Thinking 'number 32 should score less than 85 because of.....' is very different to thinking 'Bobby Brown should score less than 85 because....'
Pretty much all individual sport still use numbers. Its way easier to look down a start list for a number then a name. When I used to compete I always liked having the bib on, made the event feel more official.
Stop complaining about someone wearing a bib that has a sponsors name on it, sponsors pour money into skiing to make it as good as it is and if they want their name on a bib let them.
it's because of the upvoted comments , even if the op is the most retarded thread you can read , and people in the comments get a lot of upvotes the thread will be rated high.
