As far as the South East and The Great State of Georgia, this has been a much colder fall than usual that has been punctuated by a few days of balmier temps.
NC has had one of the best early seasons in the past decade and it is gearing up to be a very successful winter
If you skied pow you'd know all we've gotten so far is sugary non-bonding snow and a little wetness would really help us create a solid base to rip future storms on. It's not all bad brosephs!
This rain will solidify our base. Then after this weekend the jet stream will dip down again in the east. So its going to get cold again with a storm possible on christmas and some more storms possible between Christmas and New Years. Its been an awesome year so far and after this thaw its only gonna get better.
Stowe's only going to barely go above 32 and only for Sunday during the day, then we're right back to cold temps. Not going to effect things much once we get some fresh on top of the soon to be refrozen crap.
same story here in the midwest. we had killer temps and massive amounts of snow making the entire month of december, its been amazing. 2 snow storms brought us 10 inches down here in cincy (which is a lot for this city).
however, this weekend, we have mid 50's and damn near a tsunami hitting town friday-sunday. freakin blows
in addition to the occasional bad weather, we get the extreme cold blasts, -28 up at Sugarloaf for first chair the other day, was a chilly one for sure
Well in NJ it seems we've had more snow so far than all of last year, so, it's whatever. Plus if it's not really rainy I'm probably gonna surf, if it's not all choppy and stupid anyway.
Just spent 5 days at Jay Peak and my god was it amazing, can't wait to go back when the woods have a base so I'm not ripping up roots and rocks every turn haha.
Just had a killer week at Mt Snow so a week of rain, Christmas, and delivering pizza will just make the next outing that much better, condition/base wise and mentally
yeah its raining here in illinois and i guarantee you the second I walk outside tomorrow morning i will slip and fall on my ass cuz temps are supposed to drop shit at around 3 am.
Higher Elevations in Northern New England should dodge most of the bullet. Likely to see as much snow as r@in. The past month has been exceptionally favorable for snowmaking and most of the Mtns have taken advantage of it. The man-made base handles wet precip pretty well. Obviously this incoming weather isn't ideal, but we'll still be going into 2014 with way better than average conditions!
All this powder and then mother nature was all like fuck that I'm gonna rain on your parade. At least I snuck in some pow turns last weekend.
I'd still rather have all the snow with this rain than have a drought like other years. Still got a good amount holding down. Plenty of cold dry days this year to blast snow and get terrain open early.
Yep storm actually cut so far west that it left a mostly dry... Although being Far East of a storm keeps you warm sectored. Nasty nasty ice storm setting up for nvt nh and especially Maine with a strong high parked north of Maine. Possibly a historic one. Wouldn't wanna live up there right now
Damn. I was working all day and only got the weather report second hand. Thought maybe they just overestimated it. Ice storms fucking suck. Power outages, shit roads, trees down everywhere. Everything buried in ice.
Luckily the low is barely under freezing here. Still 3 days of rain will suck when it get's below zero mid week. Aint nobody got edges for that.
