My skis from last season have become absolutely trahsed, and I really wanna get the al dente. I am just worried about the durability they are so soft buttery just wanna make sure they won't break
The edges are not "super thin". They're 2.2mm, which is only .3mm thinner than the edge on their other park skis. If the edge was 1.7mm, then I would agree with you, and probably wouldn't have bought them.
they are narrower in both dimensions (width and height). they call them 2.2mm but go look at them compared to pretty much any park skis on the market and they are super thin.
when I measured them planning to buy the aldente they were around 2mm wide (lets be generous and call it 2.2) and 1.5mm high (3.3mm cubed of edge). The ar7 has an edge that is 2.5mm wide and 2.2mm high (*minor innacuracy possible) and so 5.5mm cubed of edge.
All this means is the al dente has 60% of the total edge thickness of the ar7 (as in just over half as much metal). Enjoy.
i don't know why you're being downvoted for posting the truth. my buddy has a pair and he's got ~20 days on them and the edges are already getting thrashed. in another GT thread concerning edge thickness, someone who works at a shop went and measured edges and the al dente's were very noticeably thinner than other armada skis. i guess to keep a fat park ski light they skimped on edges
Thats the whole problem, if they would have re-engineered the entire ski for henrik that would have been cool. But they just changed the arv. blaaaaaaaaaa
just went and looked it up. here are user Twig's numbas from a shop.
Atomic Infamous - 2.2 x 2mm
K2/Line - 2.2mm x 2mm
Armada '2.5impact edge' - 2.5mm x 2mm
Armada Al Dente Edge - 2mm x 1.3mm (paper thin edges).
Volkl Kink - 2mm x 2mm
Scott Jib - 2mm x 2mm
When I rode with Phil and henrik last season, phill was missing a lot of his edge, and henriks bases were fucked, they are low quality skis marked up to be a promodel
I completely agree with your statement, but the engineering major in me has to point out that it would be mm squared of edge since you're talking about the edges cross-sectional area haha.
they won't break on you, if your wanting it lil stiffer wait till 2015 Al Dente they made it lil more stiffer in the tails. but overall one of the best skis i've put on my feet!!!
