just gonna toss this in to the pricing argument. figure out your cost per wear on things you buy, by dividing the number of days worn by the cost of the garment, and you'll find that items like a well made pair of jeans will be cheaper over time than a cheap pair. for example, I've had a pair of dior 19cm that I got back in 07 that have now seen almost 1000 days of wear, and they've cost me about 20 cents per day. Compare that to a pair of 511s that will blow it's crotch after 50-60 wears and end up costing a dollar per wear, the diors are much cheaper. This same thing can be applied to shoes, coats, whatever you want, and generally speaking, the well made item is always cheaper in the long run.
Speaking specifically to the railcars, I checked them out last week, and they're fucking radical; The construction is some of the best I've seen in this price range. I'm bummed that they don't come in a smaller size because I'd snap up a pair in a heartbeat. I will probably be recommending them to people instead of the 3sixteens that are my standby bargain-denim recommendation.
and since it's a denim thread and I saw somebody post a link, seriously fuck APC, shittiest jeans you can spend money on. stretch too much, every pair blows out as quickly as levis do, they fade quickly, terribly constructed, with cheap textiles. APCs were great in the first half of the aughts and have gone drastically downhill since scaling their operations a few years back.
oh and I am so over big brands playing up selvage. it's the fucking gluten-free of jeans. cotton quality, weight, weave pattern, dye method, post-weave treatments such as sanforization, all matter way more than if the fabric has a selvage, and almost never get the attention they deserve. you can now get raw selvage jeans for like 70 bucks at pacsun, but that shit will fall apart as quickly as made in madagascar levis.
