Cannot trust boot fitters.

Between a boot fitter telling me boots do not matter and another selling me 3 year old boots for higher than retail price I'm done. I met this one guy In a ski shop near me. He was trying to convince me that boots simply do not matter in a ski setup. He was telling me it's all about the skis and bindings. This is obviously not true. Then I went into another ski shop. They fit me to a good fitting boot. I thought I was getting a good deal when they told me it was half off in this seasons model. I guess it's too good to be true. These boots were three years old! He was selling them to me above retail price. Seems like you can't trust anybody these days. Their only in it for the money I guess. Does anybody have this problem with their local ski shops?

Yeah sounds like you have been dealing with salesmen rather then bootfitters. A bootfitter is your only option for good boots though, so where are you from maybe someone here can recommend some good fitters, reasonably close to you.

This thread is pointless because you've never sat down with an actual bootfitter, those assholes are simply salesman. Learn the difference

Boot-fitters are sort of like car mechanics- finding the right one is difficult and most hardly know what they're doing. Most are simple staff trying to help out, but lacking the real knowledge to do actually solve problems. Some are purely out to make money, but they tend not to last in the long run. But there are many legit fitters out there, you just need to find where they are.

Where are you living? Perhaps we can recommend a good fitter in your area.

yeah about 99% of them will fuck you over if they can, you just have to find the best one. I personally go to Heinos ski and cycle, its in Northern NJ, like 30 minutes from me. The boots I have right now were fitted from them, the fitter went as far as going an hour and 20 minutes past closing time in the shop to finish and perfect my boots. Everything is completely honest, and they dont charge you for anything you dont agree to ahead of time. The final cost wound up being less then the msrp thats recommended, and if you buy the boots most of the fitting process s free. They do literally everything there, like the boots I have now fit me better and are more comfortable then any shoe I have ever owned. They also have amazing tuning despite me doing about 98% on my own. If you are anywhere within 75 miles I suggest you get there honestly, its so worth it.

First of all, if you go to an actual Bootfitter we will all tell you that the most important thing you can buy for skiing is a custom insole and a properly fitting boot. We are not there to be your boot try on helpers and we may come off a little crass. We are only concerned with getting your foot in the correct boot for you fit and functionality wise.
Second of all, whoever said that were in it for the money is a dumbass, because most of us do it because we love skiing, love having properly fitting boots that transmit power to the snow as efficiently as possible, and we really don't get paid that well.

Tl:dr go to a shop that has an actual bootfitter, buy a custom insole and have happy feet
