Best point and shoot, manual zoom camera ~$200

My girlfriend wants to play camera-girl on vacation and wants a "real camera". She wants to be able to have a quick point and shoot camera with a manual zoom. Any suggestions in the $200-$250 ballpark?

Pretty sure they don't exist. Just get an S110 or something

If by manual zoom you mean like how an slr lens works, but not an slr camera, your only options are some of the new mirrorless systems or things like fuji x series. None of which are cheap by any means.

Canon s100 can be had for cheap now I bet, since they're on like s120 or whatever. I've got an s110, all the digital on my flickr is shot with it. The 100 is probably barely different and I love my 110. It's actually a pocket camera, seems to have a decent sensor and lens.

This, or spend a little bit more and get a Canon G15. The lens is effectively 28-140mm f/1.8 - 2.8 IS and its pretty darn good in low light for such a small sensor. It also gives you Program/Aperture/Shutter/Manual modes, RAW capabilities, and the build is fantastic. Definitely a large step up from consumer p&s's without committing to an interchangeable lens system. I was gifted one a few months ago and I use it all the time for sports, I just throw it in my pocket and go.

We'll the Fujifilm X10/20's have manual zoom but they are a bit more then 200 dollars. Swell cameras do, great build and image quality.
