With the commercial going in the banner above, I could not just let this case pass:
My boyfriend has just tested a jacket made of the newest 2013 fall Gore-Tex Pro, that is said to be so much more breathable than previous Gore-Tex Pro models.
He wanted to have a jacket just for walks and trekking mostly, nothing extreme, that kept him dry. But what he experienced was that on a 45 minutes walk on asphalt, almost flat but a few meters to climb, noting steep: Damp would gather as moisture on the inside of the jacket after finishing.
Temperature between 2-10 degrees celcius (35,6-46,4 F). Helly Hansen base layer wool and polyamide, Haglöfs middle layer polartec fleece. So the jacket and layers should to be top notch. The jacket itelf costs in Norway with todays currency $968...
He just concluded that that was not good enought and went to return the jacket. As he could buy a less expensive that would give same result.
I did the same walk the same day with another 7 year shell jacket of type Dermizax. Completely dry inside of jacket. I had another mid layer setup with wool, but still...
Do you have the same experience or can you tell a better story of the new Gore-Tex pro?
