Shea Flynn's part from our latest film, Mutiny, was submitted as an entry to the Recognize Film Festival in Breckenridge this past week. You can now view it, and the other entries, on their facebook page and vote for the "Viewer's Choice Award."
I really like it but part of me wants the 'Cartoons and Cereal' and 'Like I See It', Shea Flynn back. Dude kills it, but this type of seg just bums me out and the lack of flow leaves me a bit unsatisfied, as if it never ended.
Awesome cinematography and the disaster 2 on the dfd, and the diaster 4 were dope, but it's hard to say this is a segment that I want to go and watch to get me stoked for the season. Shea's skiing is crazy and he takes massive risks, but the showcasing and cut scenes made it harder to recognize his consistency in hitting sick features. The stop and start was a little much.
I don't think this segment is great to release through Dew Tour, because it just seems like it belongs in a movie rather than a 6 minute clip or edit that is meant to showcase Shea's skiing and Stept's abilities. It's like taking a cut scene from the middle of the Departed and trying to follow what's going on, versus taking a flowing cut scene from the Omaha Beach scene in Saving Private Ryan.
It's hard to keep focused on his talents with a bunch of moody stuff in the background and I felt like I spent more time in a operating room than getting to see Shea hit features. A release of a re-edit of Shea's hits would be awesome, and I hope Stept considers adding an extra edit of his tricks in traditional, raw form, rather than in the Mutiny plot persona.
