Inverted tricks at home mountains

My home mountain chases people down and threatens to take away their tickets or passes if they do inverted tricks on jumps.. honestly I think it is a really stupid rule. Any other mountains besides Liberty ski resort, PA that have this rule?

Yep same here.
You have to get some certificate by filling into a airbag before you can flil at my home hill. And no they don't have a airbag. I know right??

I think that in most free parks you're technically not supposed to but i've never seen it enforced at my hill

At my hill, you can do inverts but they're frowned upon by patrol. They're a no-go in comps though.

god that seem to suck.

but it's propably because of all gapers trying to do flips the first time they stand on a pair of skis and then breaks their neck, then sues the hill for having "irresponsible workers putting up dangerous obstacales and snowpiles in the midle of a line"

Sharp shooters at killington aren't allowed to post the pictures if your go upside down. they did for me though. this was a couple years ago though

My hill used to not let anyone but they've toned it down in the past couple years. They were pretty strict before but now they dont really care as long as you know what youre doing. Its still frowned upon but they only get you in trouble if you look like a gaper trying to flip and are about to break your neck.

My hill had a sign next to our "jump" that said no inverts. Im pretty sure it's had the reverse effect...

I've seen ski patrol clip tickets and even heard they took someone's season pass for flipping. Even the guys that knew what they were doing. This is in Iowa flipping is the most exciting thing around here.

Sun Valley doesn't restrict the tricks you want to do. They have a progression park with small jumps, a medium park with med. jumps & a big park w/big jumps, which is awesome (and a huge superpipe) all at Dollar Mountain. Bogus Basin, near Boise, does not allow inverts. Not sure about Tamarack. But Brundage is just having a rail park this season, with no substantial jumps. Liability was mentioned as a reason.

It's not about the danger of flipping. Terrain parks have risks associated with them and they understand that. The problem is that if they let everyone flip, it could throw off the rotation of earth.

To get around this rule simply follow a backflip with a frontflip and so on. As long as you leave the universe in balance you're free to do what you want.

Ski Roundtop, Ski Liberty, and Ski Whitetail all have this rule. Probably because they're all owned by the same corporation. I've heard many different stories as to why this rule exists, some go as far to say it's because they don't want the little kids to see it done by someone else, try it, and hurt themselves.

it's due to outdated insurance policies. lot's of places around me you can cork, flatspin, etc but if you go feet over your head ***OMG*** it's a no no because if someone like fuckin dies their insurance don't cover dat sheit


the policy at my home mountain is "inverted aerials are not recommended"

i did a backflip in 2001 at blue mountain and they clipped my pass. They also called the police on me and charged my brother and i with trespassing for skiing on a closed run. the cop asked me for i.d, i said i don't have any. he asked why. i said because i am 13!

The owner is a paraplegic and doesn't want anyone to end up like him. that is one of the reasons for that rule so I have heard.

At my home mountain you can do off axis flips as long as you dont invert too much. Straight front/back is not allowed, pass can get clipped

Bristol Mountain, NY doesn't allow it but as long as theres no ski patrol around you can get away with it.

Thats at Sundown correct? I know people at Snowstar that invert regularly, and was just at Chestnut last weekend and saw several people doing inverts.

a snowboarder at my hill got his pass suspended for a cork 5 but he managed to explain to the ski patrol that he didnt go upside down then he went and did the smalled flip i had ever seen and he got kicked out for the rest of the day.

Most of the smaller resorts do, with the threat of taking your pass/ticket. Big resorts, like Breck or PC, don't have the rule restricting inverts.

I've worked at a few mountains with that rule. Never got into that much shit for it though. It's outdated as fuck, I went to a mountain within the last 5 years and they yelled at me for not having a leash on my snowboard. I had to grab a piece of rope from the shop to tie on my binding to get up the lift.

Honestly I think a cork is more dangerous than a straight flip yet many places you can still cork. If a jump is sketchy as hell I'm not gonna spin that shit, but I'll flip off it.

At ski sundown in Connecticut they dont allow inverts due to some idiot kid breaking his neck on one of the jumps a while back which sent insurance rates through the fucking roof for the mountain.

i know my old mtn didn't allow inverts but not like anyone there could actually do one. but it was because insurance would cost more for the mtn. not sure if its the same for the rest of them but that would be my guess

They used to enforce it at my hill, but then I think they quickly realized it was way too much work trying to stop us and just gave up and made it ok.

I threw a laid out backie at Liberty last season and a patrol guy chased me down for it. He was super cool and told me it was "fucking rad" but asked me not to do it again.

"Home" mountain I guess would be JF / Big Boulder and they have absolutely no problem with inverts. Haven't gotten any shit at Blue Mt. in PA either.

one time i threw a lil backie under the lift on a pow day and it almost cost me my pass, had to do alot of bullshitting to get outa that one... guess thats what happens when ur home mountain doesn't have a terrain park and all the patrollers think going upside down is the devil .
