Can someone tell me how these work?

Do you just buy one of those button bad MIDI things then assign noise to each button so you can play it like a piano sort of thing?

wouldn't it be nice if kids learned how to play something useful like a piano rather than something stupid like this

Why not both. Taking random sound recordings and making music requires some creativity. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these kids had backgrounds in piano

i guess now it seems cool. but you'll be able to play a piano for your whole life, and everyone would think its great. where as this will die out/ be only interesting to a certain type of person

Ahaha come on, you can easily be as cliche and cheesy with a piano as this guy is by doing another boring mashup with his midi fighter. Besides, anybody that is playing the piano because it has popular appeal is doing it wrong. And in case you didn't notice, people have been sampling and using midi controllers since the 80s... "Die out"? Not likely.

It is quite amazing what they can do with out playing other instruments. Like Porter Robinson or Madeon just taught themselves how to use Fl Studio and look at them now... Also Madeons Pop Culture!
