A lot of people have been complaining about the judging of the dew tour this year, like they do every year. We have to realize as a community that Slopestyle contests are not true freeskiing contests. They must be rigid in their rules and judging because they aim to generate profit and feed large bureaucratic and corrupt organizations. Slopestyle was born out of creativity and a passion for radness and style, but has grown into what is nothing more then a game of doubles. Wherein the master of the double and triple corks, will always win from now on. They are not a representation of our sport at all, but rather some sad branch of freestyle skiing in which the worlds best freeskiers happen to excel.
Do I still enjoy watching Slopestyle ? Of course I do - but only because of guys like Henrik and Gagnier that make it interesting. The true irony of slopestyle skiing, and which proves my point without is that the best slopestyle runs (in my mind meaning the most fun to watch) are the ones where they miss a trick early in the run, and get to ride the course for fun.
