In Mutiny I realized that some of the filmers have matte boxes. (I dont understand Matte boxes that well) But anyway can you but square nd filters in the matte box. Or am I just crazy, because it seems like some shots the shoot urban and its sunny out, but the have a fisheye lens. Most the time fisheye lens can't be filtered. This was just a random question I am just curious about.
you can use square filters in a matte box, that along with reducing glare is their primary purpose. Also, some fisheyes can be filtered with drop ins, or filters on the rear element, but typically not in front. While physically it may work to put an nd filter in front of a fisheye using a mattebox, typically it will cause severe vignetting
Yeah that is what I thought about too the vignetting, but stept obviously figured out a way to be perfectly exposed in harsh sunlight with a fisheye, It is mind bottling
face away from the sun, stop down all the way, and possibly change shutter speed? I'm not sure if they changed the shutter speed, I'll have to watch that part again
I mean, its not that hard? Im sure they just were shooting f16 or higher and at least 125/250/500 shutter (tbh its super hard to tell the different between 125-500) i dunno what makes you think you "need" and nd filter.
