Hey whats up guys. I just moved back to Vegas from Oregon, and after working my ass off saved enoguh to buy atomic benchets,t halls, and a mammoth season pass. I haven't skiied yet (broke my other skis) because I just finally got all my stuff, and took it into the shop last week to get mounted. Each mount costs 55 (YES 55 which I was pissed about) but I have never built/dealt with any equipment in my life.
Apparently though after waiting a week for him to contact me, my boot sole is to wore down, and the guy said that he wouldn't mount the boots for safety obligations. In July I was hucking tricks at Mt.Hood and had no idea that my boot had any sort of problem. I really can't afford a new boot and no one else in Vegas mounts skis. So I am going to do it myself. I have a few pairs of old skis to practice on, and I know to research and look at all the videos about it, but do you guys have any tips for a jank mount? I might be able to get a jig, and a nice table, and my family owns a nice drill. I just am looking for some quick tips so I don't completelyfuck up my skis lol. I have 0 experience building/using/fixing any equipment. Thanks I am dying to ski :(

TGR has all the paper templates you could need. No need to practice on a old ski either, use a 2x4.

Here are the templates. Just take your time, measure a lot, drill a little. Watch vidsss.

i would drive somewhere to find a shop, or somebody on ns in the area that can do it. working with bindings poses a huge risk of hurting yourself, as well as if you screw up you ruin the skis. if you have no experience with any ski maintenance, i would avoid it


if you are set on doing it yourself, i would practice on some 2x4's to figure out exactly what to do before you go after your brand new gear

55isnt that bad....my shop charges 75. You could ask if they would do buy one get one half of type thing.....or a pack of beer will sometimes hook you up.

As the first post said, its not hard at all esp with the paper templates that are out on TGR. Just mounted up some dukes and fks with them.

Is that Bratislavan for Jack Daniels, Cause im pretty sure that's the currency I work in.

But to OP, go booze up a techy ask for a deal on the 2 mounts.

Otherwise mounting with paperjigs is easy enough just take your time measure lots., practice on an old ski if you can.

just make sure your drill bit depth is set to no deeper than 9.5mm and its 3.6-4.1mm wide.

if your boots are that worn, can you replace the heel and toe pads?

If a certified tech is telling you your boots are too worn, you should probably listen to him. Most places are not in the business of turning away paying customers for fun.
