If the commentators could call tricks properly.. I'd be sooo happy. Literally any park rat could do a much better job.

That and Wallisch really has to stop doing the same back to back switch dub 10..

Vinni Cash got shafted.

You got 2 tricks wrong :
The switch 7 was actually a sw 5 pretzel 180 (so weird ass switch corlk 3 tail). That's way way harder than a switch 7 and he's the only guy in the world that can do it. It s a very hard trick and very creative.
The forward 7 was not mute it was with a weird front double mute(scissor grab?). So once again, a pretty damn hard trick.

P.S. I know that by Laurent Favre deep you refer to the US OPEN big air in 2004 haha.

I watched it again.. there was some cool stuff in there, but overall he looked pretty sketchy in the air compared to most the other riders. I love most of his film seggies tho hes always on the creative side of things.

The Sw 5 pretzel 180 -

So you're saying that he does 540 and then reverts 180? I mean its a completely inverted sw cork 3 by what someone else said, which if you really study tricks is often called a sw cork 7. The rules of cork historically has been that you call the flip axis and the spin axis and count each 360. I could definitely philosophically debate the correctness of this, as I've always thought it was bullshit.

If I got it wrong sitting there in 1080P repeatedly rewinding it, there's a good chance the judges did too. I would still stand by the fact that he needed to go WAY deeper for the slow, stylish trick to really score well. The other guys doing hard tricks were going deep, and high DD and big amplitude can definitely edge out style - even in my mind.

Yeah sorry on the mute. One hand or two I'm not going to score massive extra points. Maybe a couple of ticks, but thats it.

Don't get me wrong, Vinny's run was fucking epic. I would have scored it higher, as I usually give a lot more points for style, but I'm trying to explain how the judges see it.

And hell yes... Laurent Favre US Open 2004. That shit was off the charts.

If the camera angle didn't change right when he reverts you would see the 540 pretzel 180. Look at how his arms are coming around on the landing, the opposite way he was spinning at the takeoff.

Awesome run by Brita! Dang I blew it on my FFL. Wasn't sure how she'ld come back after her knee injury. Same for Maddie. I thought she took such a bad crash to her hip at the TNF PPOS I didn't give her enough credit!!

There are skiers watching this skiing webcast. Stop interrupting the quality skiing-based conversation that Rogge is starting with pointless jokes and subtle shots at the sport of skiing.

Skateboarding is cooler than Skiing, we get that. Let us enjoy our sport the way we want in this webcast.

I'm not at all clear on what his purpose is. What does he add to the product here? Yesterday it was a bit annoying, now it's full blown. Rogge's done a good job of handling it though.

Sorry but I can't even watch the livestream when Cannon is on camera. The guy doesn't do shit but hold his little cup of 'cocoa' or HOT CHOCOLATE as we call it and has these safe topics about people and how nice or fun they are because he can't add any information or solid input to skiing, the people being interviewed, etc. The guy needs to go back to skateboarding or get a personality check done because he's giving all of us second-degree embarrassment. Poor guy is clueless.

Well what would you even score those runs if they were on the same curve as the guys'? A 12.2 score takes the gold? There's no point. Just like there's no point in giving kids at a rail jam at your local hill a score of 37 because they're not LJ. Bishop's right, scoring has to be done in context.

The problem is that its not about scoring only first second and third. That is easy. Properly scoring 49th place is where the real difficulty happens in judging.

If you scored the women's contest against the mens, then your first place women would get like a 15 out of 100. (say we're using a 100 point scale).

Then all of a sudden, you need to score the whole women's contest within 0-15. You'd result in all kinds of ties.

During training, the judges are watching and setting their range. They are picking who is the top and who is the bottom, then when the contest run happens the'll give the leading run something hight, but not too high - say like an 80-85. They then leave the next 15-20 points to score someone who has a completely breakout run over training, and have enough range in the lower end to score all the athletes.

The biggest mistake non-judges make is in thinking that the judges job is only about first, second and third. Its not, and you have to be really strategical not to fuck that part of it up.

I tried watching women's skiing superpipe - had to turn it off. Some of the ladies weren't even airing out of the pipe, and almost none had grabs. Ladies, you're making the sport look bad.
