Facemasks? Baselayers?

Hey NS,

Just wanted to know if some people could give me some recommendations on their favorite balaclavas/facemasks and on what baselayers they use.

I'm looking into getting some after seeing my yowie wasn't cutting it on the really cold days, and didn't really know where to start.

Patagonia base layers. They've got every thickness so I have stuff to cover me on super cold days and warm spring park days. You can usually find last year's colors at a reasonable price. At full price it is stupidly expensive.

Just got the Armada 'Ballerclava' and it's decent. Probably prefer my Dakine one to it, but they both work. Just make sure it's the microfiber material and not fleece. The fleece will just get wet and freeze.

I just got the Armada Ballerclava and wore it today. It is awesome! Would recommend it

This. The varying thicknesses are awesome. 1 for warm days, 2 for overall, 4 for cold as shit days.

REI also makes good base layers at a decent price. I have a pair of super heavyweight bottoms for the coldest of coldest days and they are the shit.

phunkshun hands down makes one of the best balaclavas. it NEVER freezes after getting moist from breathing on it, plus it's longer than any other one on the market so it never rolls up like most tend to.
