Cell phone while skiing

Do you guys keep your phones on you while you ski? I've cracked 2 phones because I've fallen on a rail or something while it was in my pocket, but its a bitch to go into the lodge to use it...thought?

I bought myself a burner phone. I load it up with 10 bucks every month and only use it in case of emergencies. The only people who have the number and people who would need to get in touch with me in an emergency. The "contacts" literally only have one person to call if I'm found unconscious. If that phone breaks, it's only $20 to replace it. I have also broken a phone or two skiing.

Somehow that just gave me the idea to switch my SIM card into an old phone when I go out on the mountain and switch it back when I'm done wow this a fucking good idea

That's what I used to do, but I just got a new phone and the new AT&T SIM cards are like half the size, so it's incompatible with my old phones. It is, however, free to start a pay-as-you-go plan with one of your old phones, so if you are in the same boat as me, boo yah.

Had mine for five years. I skated with it in my pocket forever, skied with it too. And it's survived like half a bottle of water on it, me taking it apart, tons of sand, skateboarding falls that should have killed it. I once lost it, at night, while skiing at blue mountain. I found it two hours later in the snow, warmed it up then made a phone call. I got a different phone now, but that one still works. Try that with your iphone.

I feel like I missed out in life by never having a slider phone. My orange Casio boulder has served as a faithful servant and now backup phone 3 times in the past 7 years thanks to broken/lost "nice" phones.

I leave my phone in the car. There is no reception at the ski center. But on slow easy days, I like to listen to some tunes from my phone

I have an otterbox and keep it in a insulated zippered pocket. A warm pocket close to your body is essential because the iPhone 5 or at least my year old one won't work ~<20F

My phone is more or less a rock and has been personally tested to endure falls from about 15 feet, so I just keep it in my chest pocket.

Minnesota right now is -15 every day so phones shut down after a few minutes, hard to pump my big beats on the slopes

I keep a lifeproof case on my iphone 5 and usually have it on me while skiing. It's taken some pretty nasty hits and is still truckin. Only complaint is when it gets wet the screen can be hard to use. I use it in the shower sometimes too.

I use an Otterbox that cost as much as the phone itself because I've broken two iPhones skiing previously.

I Carry my iPhone close to my body in a sweaters pocket or something. Then I also keep an iPod in the media pocket of my coat. The iPod doesn't shut down until it is -15 or so, so it works great. I ski alone and don't have a car is I just use my phone to meet up w friends or my parents.

keep it in a pocket you don't fall on. On skis you hit your sides a lot so why put something like that in those pockets if you keep breaking them. Toss it in your coat somewhere.


Or rock an old phone like you are and you're golden.
