Hi I'm a 15 year old x-skier who lives in the Midwest and is a dedicated rower. Earlyer this season I was skiing and I fell of a rail, that was not even that high up, but I landed on my lower back or tail bone. Right away I knew I was fucked up. I could hardly inhale because it hurt so bad. So after going down to the lodge I told myself I would be ok and didn't go to patrol. I sat down for 6 more hours until my friends dad picked us all up and took a very painful ride home.
Three days later I went to the hospital only to hear bad news. I fractured my lumbar (lower spine) and bruised my ilium (back side of hip). The doctor told me that I won't be able to row anymore and he also said there will not be anymore skiing. I'm currently sitting in my room dreaming how great skiing is and I just had to tell you guys. If I ever recover from this injury and ski again I'm planning on making a crappy edit called Midwest Ballers. Episode one will be called Recovery and it will be me getting fucking jacked out of my mined and going through physical therapy for skiing.
What I'm trying to say is that skiing is not all glory. We are all apart of a tenacious sport that can ruin people's life's or even end them. Just remember to always take calculated risks and don't push yourself to hard.
Peace
