Why do mirrors not turn us upside down?

How do they know to flip us left/right but not top/bottom? What if we turn 90 degrees, they still do it that way, why?

they don't flip left/right, were already looking at it left/right. if you you look through your shirt from the inside, the writing on it would be backwards and it's the same way you'd look at your shirt in a mirror.

But if your eyes are on the front of your head the mirror flips left/right and front/back but not top/bottom, and if your eyes are on the top of your head it flips top/bottom and left/right but not front/back. But if your eyes are on the side of your head the mirror flips left/right, and nothing else, when really left/right is the only thing that should NOT be flipped if following the pattern.

It does mirror it (in the same sense). It's kinda hard to explain.

Look at it this way: Pretend you're on the inside of a sphere, along with you mirror image. Draw a line from your right hand, to your mirrored right hand. The line will be along (your) right side of the sphere. Now, draw a line from your head, to your mirrored head. The line will go along the top of the sphere.

Narp. Wood has two components - long chains of cellulose that provide the compressive strength, and lignin that holds the cellulose in place and makes wood brown. A solid piece of wood is made up of lots of cellulose chains in a gigantic tangled mess, held firm by lignin. Two pieces of wood don't magically merge together when you put one on top of another because there is no overlap/tangledness between the cellulose chains in each part, so there is nothing holding them together.

Didn't do any research from that so I could be wrong, but that was just general knowledge and my half degree in chemistry.

technically I'm right, and you're definitely wrong.

A perfect mirror reflects all light, and therefore can have no colour associated with it.


The only reason why you say a mirror is green is because the glass in front of the reflective foil is greenish glass. This isn't even the reflective surface that's green, but it does give a greenish appearance.

A mirror is not green.


A mirror doesn't need to have that glass. The best mirrors are highly polished metallic surfaces with no glass.

These have no relation whatsoever with the colour green.



When an object has a certain colour it's because that's the light wavelengths that are reflected from it.

If a mirror can reflect all wavelengths of visual light, then how can you associate one specific colour to it?

If a mirror is green then if I take a perfect mirror and shine a certain spectrum of visible light at the mirror, then if I analyze the light that's getting reflected back there will be lower proportions of light in the other spectrums with respect to green.

Which wouldn't happen.


Mirror is not green.
