Most blacks are WAY worse off now than they were under apartheid.  You realize that the number of people living on under 1 dollar a day in SA doubled in the decade after the apartheid regime fell?


There is now one less economically strong and thriving country to compete with the United States Coorporate empire.

A great man has died. He effected the lives of countless people in a positive way, and paved the way for social justice platforms all around the world. He was a soldier of peace who suffered for his country.

Notice that I didn't pay homage to Mr. Mandela, but rather, that I actually defended your right to free speech. Also notice that I don't claim to know anything about what it's like to live in South Africa (do you actually know anything about that besides what you've read? How are your sources any less biased than the dominant ones that portray Mandela as a hero? How can you claim a privileged understanding of what's gone on in SA?).

He was a good man with a good heart with a goal he achieved to set his people free. Regardless of the bad things he may have or have not done, I guarantee no other politician that was as influential as him has clean hands either. RIP

Honestly out of complete respect I am happy he died. Not because I disliked him but because there were so many people following his health and surrounding his family about it just seems like such a bad way to spend your last days. He was old and had lived one of the most interesting lives in modern history, I wish people would have just left him to be old in peace.

SA still sucks balls today and probably always will.

He did great things but he also did horrible things. I personally dont think genocide, rape, and throwing burning tires around peoples necks you dont like is a good way to change a country but to each his own I guess.

The apartheid sucked balls and so does the ANC.

I remain neutral on whether he was good or bad.

Know what really sad? When a Hollywood actor who really doesn't matter two shits in the grand scheme of things dies and everybody makes a big deal out of it and those who make jokes or point out that he really wasn't an important person at all get chastised. Then one of the greatest people of the 20th century dies and most people don't give a shit and more are making jokes about him and generally not giving a fuck. Sad state of affairs.

When Mandela was a prisoner Amnesty International wouldn't even support him because of his violent past.  He pled guilty to being behind 156 acts of violence.

Mandela NEVER apologized for using violence.


You think he was jailed for his political views?  I understand that you want to come across like a good person and regurgitate what your teachers and the media told you but the guy was a complete piece of shit. 

You'd call Osama Bin Laden a hero if that is what the media and your teachers told you its really easy to see how brainwashed many people are.


Since he fought against a regime deemed oppressive his behavior has been excused and justified by the media.  The opinion of him in South Africa isn't the same as it is abroad and he isn't even popular with blacks since he did little to improve their living conditions and basically just allowed a few of his corrupt cronies to gain power and wealth.  Isn't it easier to understand how easily brainwashed radical muslims are if us westerners are willing to jerk it to a violent criminal no different than Al Queida terrorists because the media deemed his struggle justified?

Don't give me shit for using the terms "blacks" instead of Africans.  If I referred to them as Africans how would you differentiate between the dark skin oppressed people and the light skinned meanies?  They do have caucasians down there too.


I have met numerous Saffas.  You have to take what they say with a grain of salt because they are extremely afraid of being branded racist so do not like discussing "when the shit hit the fan."  I'm not going to meet any of the poor black people because if they are rich enough to travel outside of SA they are probably the handful of reformed terrorists that were able to get power/wealth.  Most didn't and live in far worse poverty than under apartheid.  Economically SA is fucked and has been rendered irrelevant.  The violent crime rate is 5x what it was under apartheid.  Mandela crippled them economically but they were fucked either way the pressure from the outside world was growing and growing something had to happen.  Apartheid South Africa would have been done by 1996-98 no matter what.

Im done posting on this thread people can debate me via PM if they want.  I'm sorry for hijacking it anyways.  The guy is very much culturally significant and relevant even if I think he is a terrorist so he's going to be talked about when he dies.
