He had a 180 opening, it happens. Usually it's caused by bad body position. Definitely want to get a running start to increase separation from the wall. That particular exit especially.
The worst thing was that he should have been able to turn it around. He accidentally pulled the WLO toggle which is supposed to release in case of a line over. Then when he did pull it, he kind of fluttered it instead of burying the toggle to make that thing turn ASAP. Lastly you could tell he was fixated on the one rock that sticks out in the whole wall.
Easy to sit here and play armchair quarterback but the two 180 openings I have had I was not fooling around in turning as fast as I could. He's doing alright though and will be jumping again soon.
