Boots for Atomic Tracker bindings

Looking for some boot advice. I tried searching the forum and couldn't find an answer to my question so I thought I'd ask. I'm getting my first touring setup this year and am wondering what boots I should be looking to pair with Atomic Tracker/Salomon Guardian bindings. I know they are built for alpine boots and that regular touring boots won't work. I've been riding Full Tilt Hot Doggers for the last three years and really like them so will be keeping them for park riding. Does a walk mode like you see on the Salomon Quest or Atomic Waymaker Carbon boots really make that much of a difference for touring or would I be fine in my Hot Doggers? I'm willing to spend the money on new boots if I will notice a difference but would rather not spend the cash if I don't have to. Will be doing mostly sidecountry stuff but will also have a few full days of backcountry touring.

A walk mode will really help you. Have a look at the new generation of freeride boots. My current fav is the scarpa freedom sl. It's a really nice boot sitting right between a alpine an touring boot. Comes with both tech insert and alpine soles. It features a full Pebax clog and still has a 120 flex. You won't believe how much better they ski then full tilts. But like any boot question go see an experienced fitter an take there advice based on your foot.

If youre only doing a few tours, then your current boots are fine assuming they fit properly. IF they dont, well, go see a boot fitter.

Thanks guys, both helpful responses. I'm still going to go to a boot fitter, I guess a better way to ask the question would have just been 'how much does a walk mode help when touring?' I also think it would be good to have a few boots to start with so I can tell the boot fitter more or less what I'm looking for. I'll def try out the Scarpas.

Walk mode will certainly help alot even just for short hikes. The main thing now is though that you can get a boot with a hike mode which still skis really well. Full tilts will ski ok but not be close to the performance of freeride boots these days. There is talk of a hike mode full tilt but you will have to wait longer untill you see anything from full tilt. With regards to looking at boots really dont even bother. Way better to go in open minded and try what the fitter recommends for your foot. But yeah the scarpa is awsome if it happens to work for you.
