Nothing beats first hand experience and proper avalanche training, my friends and I all use tracker 1s because we know every single person in our group knows how to use it properly and has many hours of experience with the beacon, you can spend the money on the newer technology but if you dont know how to use it you may as well walk around in circles with a probe for an hour.
Put the money into getting AST certified, play around with the beacons they provide in the course and make a decision then.
The tracker 3 just came out so wait a little while and the tracker 2 prices will drop
and for the love of god, when you are in the backcountry, turn off your phone.
