Are the bolt patterns on the 14 and 18 the same? Just got a pair of 18s and i wanna put them on a pair of RMUs that have 14s on them, i was wondering if remounting them would be any problem, if i could use the same holes, or will they need to be redrilled. Also they are mounted center currently and i was wondering if this would pose any problems mounting them center again, for the same boot size, just with the 18s instead. +k for actual help
The hole pattern is the same for the 14 and 18. Remounting in existing holes is a personal preference. If holes are in good shape and not stripped, and the new screws bite, you should be fine.
So long as the mounting points are the same, it won't be a problem. If you're really worried about the screws lifting, then helicoils will do the trick. Putting them in anyway, just in case, wouldn't hurt.
Get inserts. That way if you ever try to replace the brake in the fks, you can easily remove the heel without damaging the ski. Plus inserts probably will hold better than helicoils
