I wasn't going to make a post to this thread because the video is obviously a joke, I figured this thread would have been dead by today. Guess not.
First of all, the FAA is currently in the process of drafting up laws regarding to drones, and the usage of them from a commercial standpoint. The bottom line is right now, using a drone for any sort of financial or monetary gain is illegal. You get paid for what your a using your drone for, it then becomes a problem for the FAA.
Obama has given a dead to the FAA to come up with the new laws by 2015. Untill then it is illegal from a business standpoint.
Look on youtube, there have been plenty of people that have made ski and snowboard edits using a drone. There is a guy in colorado that went to vail, and filmed a bunch of pros hitting the park.
However, it is currently illegal, and no insurance company will cover your ass if your drone falls out of the sky and hurts someone or damages property.
If it were legal, the big T.V stations would be using drones to capture video of all sorts of sporting events, and live news.
The second major issue is, you can't operate a drone in a urban environment with buildings as easily as it is made out in the video.
You need line of sight, meaning that your FPV (first person view) ground station must always be able to see your aircraft. The expensive ground stations actually have 360 degree tracking, that automatically track your aircraft.
The issues arise from interference from other electronic devices in such a populated area as well as buildings.
As cool as it may seem, you can't really fly your quad-copter in between and around buildings. Your video feed will start to get very very fuzzy, and could possible lose the signal all together, because you have lost your line of sight with the ground station.
There needs to be better use of the term "drone". Is what you saw in the op video, a drone? Or are the drones that military using considered a "drone".
From a modeling standpoint, I would consider it a model aircraft, fitted with live video feed.
This is a huge debate, that is currently going on in congress, as well as the model aircraft industry
