Canon t3i?

Me and my brothers need to buy a camera. We don't have a lot of money but with the money we do have we are looking at a canon t3i. Would this be the right camera for us? If not what would be?

Depends on what you're looking for. Are you only shooting video?depth of field important? lens interchangeability? Low light? Price range?

We will be shooting mostly video and lots of low light shots (night skiing every night). We don't have a set price range but we aren't planning on going far over $400

If you're shooting at night a lot I wouldn't really recommend it. I have a T3i and don't like shooting at night at all. Otherwise, it's a fantastic camera.

I use a HF-G10 and the low light is amazing. But basically for $400 your best bet for getting quality equipment is craigslist and buying something secondhand.

gavinrudy those are some sick vids. Is that all with the t3i because thats some real good filming. In low-light if you don't recommend the t3i, do you have any other recommendations? What are the examples of the poor low-light filming?

Yeah, all of my stuff thus far has been shot with a T3i. Let me dig around and see if I can find anything that I've personally shot with bad noise in low light.

Bahahah okay so I'm posting something I made two years ago so the production value is pretty crappy.

You can't really see the noise issue a ton here because I denoised these clips with a computer program, but it is really easy to see how ugly the colors are and how desaturated and weak everything looks, which is because the T3i isn't fantastic at night.

Keep in mind that this was shooting in regular house light, so it could be different under ski headlights, but I'd doubt it.

Ha nice video. I sort of see what you mean with te low light bad quality.However, I still don't understand the bad sound quality.
Most of our filming will be in during twilight. We probably will film a little during night. Also we will filming slacklining surfing and other summer activities. Would you recommend it for this?
And what other lower end DSLR would you recommend for our type of filming?

He is talking about digital noise which is part of how the video looks, not sounds, google dslr noise and ISO and learn all about it, I would say that a t3i is probably your best bet, but if anyone else has a better option I would be stoked to hear about it.

Hahaha shit I forgot to say that.

But yeah, basically imagine it as a fuzzy static type look. It really throws off color accuracy, drops sharpness, and overall makes something look pretty muddy and gross.

This is a sick site. You can click on the links to the separate cameras too. I'm looking at the nikon D32 or 31 but it doesn't have great slow-motion shooting ability.
what do you guys think?

Don't get sold on a camera because it can do slow motion well. You don't need it as much as you think, most people tend to overuse it.

I think it's good to have. I found this vid a few years back. Not mine but i liked it. Almost all of it is in slow motion. But if anyone is the exert here it's you.
