Bindings are bindings. It's mostly personal preference; metal toe piece vs. plastic toe piece; rise height, etc. All you need to pay attention to is DIN. If you don't need 18 din then don't buy fucking 18 DIN bindings unless you plan to resell. Even then if the DIN isn't low enough for your needs then buy 14s or 12s. There is no purpose in thrashing your knees just to look cool. No one looks at your DIN except for the dude at the shop who you'll probably never see again.
Besides that, I doubt you'll ever mount your own bindings so reading up on them is worthless to you. Heres all you need to know; 12, 14, 18. Get what suits you best for how "advanced you are". Other than that, FKS, STH, AT&t, Verizon, It's all your choice. Wanna be like Seth Morrison, go for the older metal toe piece STH 16s. Wanna be like Dan Treadway then go for the FKS 18s.
