Alright I searchbarred this and couldn't find information specific what I'm asking. I'm a newb when it comes to computers and I'm looking to purchase a laptop. Something that's good for games (I use steam) and just all around use. Also preferably windows
This would maybe get a better answer in media and arts, but really any laptop with a Core i7 processor and a lot of ram would be fast. Also an ssd would be faster than a harddrive, but it's not necessary.
It's pricey but my Alienware m14 is great. It has a 2.4 ghz (up to 3.4) i7 processor with a 6 mb cache, Geforce GTX 765m, 8 gb of RAM, a 750 gb HDD with 2 gb GDDR5, and an 80 gb SSD caching device. The whole thing costed about $1,450. Runs my games like a charm.
So what's the point in a "gaming" laptop if it's less than 2 grand? Shitty graphics and framerates not to mention overheating.
OP should buy a quality Windows machine as they're much more cost effective than macbooks. You get more bang for your buck and it won't be obsolete for a bit longer than the macbook would.
Buy from newegg, hell do it now. its cyber monday so there's sicknasty dealz going on. brand name means shit, read the specs on all your prospections good parts=good lappy, regardless of the sweet logo it has or how it looks. also, its the 21st century, so 1080p monitor is a must.
