Trick to avoid injuries with new tricks??

Hey guys i was just thinking since im goin up to whistler tomorrow whats a good game plan when trying new tricks to avoid getting injured. For instance how can you start small and build up with say a flare on the quater pipe?

only try tricks you think you can do. when you try, visualize yourself doing it. if you go into something thinking you probably won't get it, you won't.
if you're comfortable with everything else you currently do, then it's time to try something new. like, if you're solid on 3s, then try 5s. if not, do a million 3s til they feel pretty easy.

hey thanks a lot for all the input. I am pretty comfortable with 3's like i can do them off the biggest jump so ill try to do some 5's. I feel pretty comfortable with underflips on the tramp at the gym where i get somewhere between 6 or 7 feet up until i land on a mat in the foam pit so maybe ill try that on a powder day

also, use the tricks u know as stepping stones to learn the new ones.
like if youre sick at 3s, it will be easy to add a 180 and land the 5. dont just go for a dspin 7 when you dont know any tricks similar to it

Ya same here man i royally suck at rails like i have good balance but cant stick them. Rails arent really skiing anyway just like the guy said i cant do all the jumps ski the mountain fine but rails just arent happening. Im not sure if there are jumps set up probably not at blackcomb but whatever if there is snow something can be built

even i (who live in Pa) know that whistler/blackcomb has kickers.. they're opening the park on blackcomb i believe tomorrow.. so they have jumps dont worry.. STRETCH.. best advice.. dont go to the park super early cause ur body is gonna be cold and not loose.. do a groomer or so.. before u go to the park. or ski anything u want before u risk getting hurt/ending the day early

Well I think the best thing is to not really try much this early in the season. It's just not worth thes early in the season. I got hurt erly seaon a couple years ago and it sucks sitting around gimped up when it's puking in January. But if you must I think the biggest thing is just being confident. When I'm with people who are good they push me and I always feel way more confident when I'm super stoked. If you are confident in what you are doing you'll stomp the piss out of tricks.

Rails are easy man. The tough part is just learning them first. I garuntee you will learn them in one day. Oh and there is no easy way of learning them, you will eat it hard at least once.

if it helps, i found out that getting more speed than whats comfortable for rails helps. that and bending ur knees a little bit.

in general try not to put out your hands to break a fall, its really easy to break or sprain wrists and fingers and those kinds of injuries usually dont heal well and its super easy to reinjure. try to land on a fatty part of your body like your back or ass or somthing, tuck and rollin is where its at

Go to the gym and work the fuck out. Get your core strength up, like abs and such. And work on your legs alot too, and your shoulders, mine are ripped up so I need to work them out. But yeah, go work out and get some muscles
