I have to do a project on peaceful protest and I really want to find a founding father who believed in this type of revolution. Does anyone know who believed in this the most?
I think what made "the founding fathers" so influential was that they generaly held radical belief that the colonies needed to go to was with the british. There may have been some founding fathers who were originally reluctant to engage in a full scale war but a peaceful protest had such a small chance of working in that scenario that no leader would ever consider it. I am not 100% sure that's true about 96% though.
For real though I've always found Thich Quang Duc extremely interesting. Might be a good choice, and if you don't know who that is this might jog your memmory:
Self-immolation is much more common than you think. Tibetan's still self-immolate to this day, and often, I'd say there are at least 30 lamas who self-immolate each year.
I know where the picture was taking, I wasn't disputing anything you posted just adding in some extra info about more contemporary practices of self-immolation in Tibet.
