This shit is crazy. How do I get rid of heel lift, its really annoying. I can't return my boots either....I don't wanna: go to a fitter, or buy j bars......is there anything else I can do? Like add shit to my boots, sew in heel-pads or something to my socks? Cram in random stuff?
i usually wore more then one pair of socks… but if you have lift then that means the boot doesn't fit you right… I'd return em or get inserts made maybe.
what you should do is buy some boots that fit, and in the future only buy stuff that fits you correctly. Any kind of temporary solution you come up with is going to be annoying and cause lots of problems.
Get or make some J Bars out of EVA and tape them to your liners and see how that works. If it does, slap them back on with some contact cement.
I got some pretty gnar blisters from heel lift while touring because of the shape of my ankle and lower calf, but some J Bars completely solved the problem.
Intuition foam is much better at compressing and creating a solid heel pocket than most liners once it's been molded. Combine that with a heel riser and/or J bars and I suspect it would solve the OP's issue.
You could get a bunch of high density glam and just start playing around with it, make your own J bars, create a deeper heel pocket , add a steeper V in the lower calf etc. what kind of boots and liners do you have
First thing to do is check the instep volume. Quite often there is too much space over the foot and it is this which causes the heel lift. Pads on the instep and general volume reducers can help as well as ensuring you have good custom footbeds. But like most boot questions a fitter looking at your foot in the shell is the only person who can really advise what will work best for you.
