I just purchased a pair of 2014 line chronic and look pivots. I ski about 75% all mtn/25% park but am planning on trying to ski more in the park. If i mount them center will it effect my all mountain capabilities and if i mount them traditional will it effect park riding? need to know asap
Mount them center, if you are a good skier then it really should effect you that much. It will take some getting used to but after that you will be fine. Line also claims that they have a symmetric flex so they should ski the same forward and switch.
Chronics are not symmetrical and are not made to be center mounted. You shouldnt notice a huge difference by mounting them 1 or 2 back, in fact it would be better if youre mostly skiing all mountain.
I have Schizo's on my chronics so I can move my mount forward and back.... I think having it back 2 is the best because you don't notice a difference in the park but they carve a lot better
It depends what you're looking to do outside of the park. If you're skiing groomers just to get to and from the park then no, it won't effect your skiing, but if you're looking to have good stable skis to rail huge turns on groomers then you will be happier with them a little behind center. A lot of the jibber kids who say center mounts ski well are the kids you see flailing down groomers with their feet super close together and their hands over their dick slashing turns every once in a while and thinking they look awesome
I hate these threads. It's all about preference, and you will never know what you prefer until you ski a pair of center mounted skis and a pair or back mounted skis. I go center on everything.
If you actually want to work on park you'll want center, i promise it. For balancing on rails while going blunt it'll save you, or buttering any feature. I always try to think that if you can simply do things switch (comfortably) you open up 50% of the trick book. I can recall dropping in switch at timberline's jump line and by the time i made it to the jump if i wasn't distributing my weight exactly on point taking of and throwing any rotation was a bitch, you also see people who's aren't centered and its scary obvious that the ski isn't meant to be shredded switch.
