Surface Skis Opinions

Looking at picking up a pair of Surface skis. Just considering them, have been looking but not exactly sure what pair I want yet.

Anyway, whats NS general opinion of them? Any thing I should know about them and do certain models or styles of theirs seem to preform better than others? Thanks, plus K ...

They're great skis at an even better price.

Lets start by asking you what type of riding you like to do. Do you want a stiff or soft ski? Rails or jumps? Cliffs or Groomers? Just some basic info on what type of riding you like to do and we'll help you out.

I want a powder ski mainly but also want a ski that can be at least decent in the park. Also would prefer it to be stable enough to charge crud and tracked powder. Im looking at the new lifes...

I suggest getting the new life, and saving up to get blanks, or try and find something cheaper from last season and get two pairs of skis one for park and on pist, and another for back country

I just got the one lifes I haven't skied them yet but I got them for the same reasons you're looking for. I did some nose-pressing in the living room and they butter so well because of the rocker but are still very stiff.

I just picked up a pair of One Times. They sound like exactly what you want. I've only gotten to ski them once so far, but I like them a lot. I haven't skied powder yet, but they seem like they would float nicely. Also they have them in a 183 this season.

Most surface skis seem to have a "2x4" feel, overly stiff and not the most lively. But that being said I think they nailed it with their 3 stage rocker skis. Especially the one life. I bought them last year for the hell of it cause they were cheap, and they're possibly the most versatile skis I've ever used. Float super well in powder, have a pretty pivoty feel to them, and actually make skiing crud and chopped up stuff fun, the big rocker gives you tons of confidence and you have tons of support on the stiff tails.
They also really kill it in the park, light and easy to whip around, you can press and slash and butter super well on them. Take some getting used to on jumps but they're great once you do.

Just wish they made some legitimately soft skis.. A soft lab 001 would be awesome

I have just skied new One Times 183 in Austria, They are wider then stated, 106 in fact not 96.
Stiff, yet they handle crud and groomers with same ease. Surprisingly good in tracked powder.

i ride one lifes (as my PA park skis haha) and they are the most fun skis i have ever ridden, i would highly suggest them cause you can shred em anywhere!

for park I would recommend the lab002 if you are going to go surface. They are not race ski stiff status like most of surfaces stuff now and after a while I could picture them breaking into a nice mid flex.

Not sure if they have any left but check out joystick these. 90 waist ski that is soft and they are also based out of the slc area.

Any opinions on the watch life? I'm thinking of getting a pair, they're cheap, kinda wide, and cambered, which sounds great for what I'm looking for. I'd be skiing then at Whiteface, NY.

Well i just snapped a pair of joystick these after riding them for only 5 days... but while they lasted, they were a fun ski. They were light and had a nice pop. They also could butter pretty well and floated in the little bit of early season pow pretty well for a full camber ski. Anyone have any advice on surface/joysticks warranty? They haven't replied to my email that i sent on Saturday and the longer the whole process takes, the longer I'll be skiing on a pair of barely skiable skis.
