I can't say anything bad about Flylow. I got their Stringfellow jacket that is new this year and it is incredible (considered part of their freeride line). I actually was able to visit their warehouse in Denver to try out some gear earlier this summer and they couldn't had been more rad. Very ski and tele-centric people just stoked about the upcoming season! If I could get a hand on some of those Baker Bibs for BC I would be a very happy person.
As Goku suggested, these are probably your best bets while remaining relatively cheap. OR puts out quality and well thought out pieces that are surprisingly affordable. Trew and especially Flylow have my total support. But for ~$400 from Trew to get a bib that's just 20k/20k is a bit high IMHO.
Arc'Teryx, Rab, Mammut -- very high end stuff, generally more of an alpine fit (for climbing and technical ascents/terrain). I have an Arc'Teryx jacket and have put it through the wringer--favorite jacket by far I've ever owned.
Really pay attention to the fabrics being used. Gore-Tex when combined with a heavy denier cloth is bomber, very durable and long lasting, but breathability can suffer a little bit when compared to other treated fabrics like eVent and the like. Think about what you're doing: a lot of skinning, slackcountry, how do you layer, are a sweaty person or a dry as a bone person... just some factors to think about.
ive gotta put the good word in on trew, stuff is bomber and still waterproof as when new and its going strong into season 3. light, very wicking, and awesome CS!
Trew's 2014 3L material is awesome. They're probably the best bibs on the market for the money. Strafe - www.strafeouterwear.com makes good stuff too - but they upped their prices $100 this year and Gelanots fabric isn't worth the $400 price tag right now. Spend the extra $20 and go Trew.
