How Long does it take you to Crochet Something?

So i learned to crochet over thanks giving and i made an earflap hat and a headband, but they took me forever. I was wondering how long it took you guys to make hats? I was just wondering cuz all these crochet companies sell their hats/bands for so cheap that they must make them pretty fast. What size yarn, hooks, etc do you guys use?

i learned how to crochet over thanksgiving too!
my first thing was a headband. and it took me a while just to get how to do it, and stuff. but i was doing it tighter than i needed to be, so it took forever just to get the kneedle through the stitches. but by the end of turkey break i got it down pat, and i would say i can make a beanie in like 3 hrs if i sit down and work on it straight through. my hook is i think a 9 mm and i use lion brand yarn 'thick and quick' which makes it so much easier.

i use some thickass yarn with a 17mm hook. basic hats in 30 minutes nukkas. actually yesterday i made a 3 color, earflaps hat with a snowflake pattern in an hour and a half. i'm so impressed with myself. scarves are bitches though even if you double stitch 'em they take 10 years.

i knit, ( i find it way easier) and a headband takes maybe 2-3 hours, with trim. a hat, maybe five. depends on wether it has earflaps, brims, patterns and trim, ect. if you suck at crocheting, try knitting. i like it alot more, but a lot of people find crocheting easier. hit me up if your intrested in some help.

there's also the double stitch, which only uses one thread of yarn, but you stitch it in such a way that you only have to make half as many stitches. that's what i use for scarves.

I despratly want to learn how to knit an earflap hat with a trim and string hanging off the flaps. Anyone know how? I've already made a bunch of headbands with trims, and a G-string.

The blonde asks 'So what was wrong with it?'
The repair man answers, 'Oh, nothing serious, just shit in the carborator.'
The blonde says, 'Okay, how often do I have to do that?'

can someone tell me the best stitch to do? I am doing a chain stitch and I am having a hard time making it smaller as I make my way up to the top. Any suggestions?

when you do beanies, you start from the top, not the bottom..

i believe crocheting is when you use one hand, and knitting involves both.

i think knitting is slower. but maybe thats because i crochet. crochet is one hook, and a hand involved. and knitting is two kneedles. i personally think crochet looks better too. but there are def alot of INSANELY GOOD knitters out there too.
