Missouri turns former music festival land into park

They got there land in the end and Jimmy is in jail. I guess it's a win for the man.



Pretty shitty situation.


Sparknotes. Dude had a successful venue and hosted multiple music festivals a year. People were selling drugs there(shocking right?) so the DEA and other groups in military mode raided the place and seized all the assets. Jimmy the owner of the property and bass player lost everything and is in jail for 2 and a half years.

Yo wanker did you ever go to Secluded Forest?  It was at a place called moose river park or something maybe 45 mins north of Utica?  It was on a lake?

SIckest festival venue I've ever been too.  But the bikers were out of control and ran mad kids shit.

Sucks. I was just thinking the other day, we have way too many parks and not enough sketchy areas to buy drugs from young hippies. South has it's priorities all backwards.

That almost makes me sick that the DEA has that type of power. Last week the busted 5 dispensaries in Denver because the owner which wasn't allowed to own guns was caught posed in a photo with guns. So they seaized all 5 dispensaries. They used it to try to connect a violent side to dispensaries.

Eh,

I don't have much problems with that.  If they want to ensure all dispensary owners aren't gangbangers then fair play.

You shouldn't be allowed to own a dispensary and think you are a fuckin Latin King.

Regardless of what it is, that does look like a nice place to do drugs! Actually I would rather do drugs there as a state park than with a bunch of run away southern burnouts.

Yeah, such a sick point. The government should be able to take anyone's land whenever they want.

Also the place was terrible. A bunch of kids listening to music for a weekend. Steal the land and throw em all in jail right?

Have you ever been to a concert? Things like the rave act make it much easier for the government to fuck over venues if people are doing drugs there.

Even with the most ridiculous security and having cops on the premises, when thousands of people gather to party there will be illegal drugs. Putting somebody in jail and stealing there land is ridiculous.

It's 2013. It's about time we admit that the drug war is fucked and end it.

Absolutely.

Make opiates illegal- noone will do H.  If they can get pills instead and not be criminals doing so heroin use will be eradicated.  Then you can give much better recovery options to victoms/addicts like they do in Europe and not just shit like soboxin.


Make coke legal- well cocaine was used positvely up until the 1930s and could be purchased in any pharmacy.  It was in more things than original coca cola.  It could have all the popularist support that weed does if people were allowed to use it reasonably.


Make weed legal-  well anywhere that isn't retarded already has.


The world won't be a different place we'll just not ahve to waste money on the DEA.  And just like when prohibition ended after the 20s and criminals couldn't profit off alcohol immediately you get a new source of tax revenue and make it so violent criminals can no longer earn a living.  There becomes ZERO incentive or profit in selling drugs.

For sure. George Remus didn't even drink. It was all business and he made a shit ton of money before he got caught.

Unfortunately I doubt it will be over anytime soon. Even for decades, I'd be shocked if even just weed was completely legalized within the next 10 years.

You suggest something like legal cocaine or H and people bug out.  It wouldn't be that big a deal at all.  People would just be able to buy painkillers without a prescription and coke would be available like it was pre 1930 when it was used for mostly positive things.

As someone who spent countless years of my life at Camp Zoe, when all this went down i completely lost any faith i had left in the government. The raid was total bullshit and there were hardly any of us left on the property anyway. It was an awesome time in an awesome place. But i guess at least people will still enjoy the land which is cool.

that's an incredibly valid point, and don't get me wrong I like getting fucked up more than most, but with laws against it, and people fighting it, it really holds back the potential of the drug trade. Cartels, and other mass movers/sellers would grow exponentially if the war on drugs stopped.

I would honestly say it would be better if the government would just make the substances pure, and regulate/sell them. They would make money, and it would be a hell of a lot safer for junkies/party goers alike.

I agree but there is always the argument that innocent people could be negatively affected by a drug user. Im on you sidethough, the drug war is so pants on head retarded its silly. Hopefully one day America will wake up and adopt the eruopean model.

The war on drugs is what creates the market. Look at alcohol prohibition. It's a perfect example. They made something illegal, people kept doing it, and they became criminals. Alcohol became illegal but the demand was still there. People saw it as a business opportunity and the bootlegging began to boom.

The war on drugs keeps the prices high. There is risk involved in the drug trade but the profits are worth the risk for many. The more intense the drug laws, the higher the prices and so on. Cartels use all kinds of fucked up tactics to keep there profits rolling in. If we legalized drugs and produced them or imported them as a legal system, there would be no need for the shady underground.

As far as the second part I agree. The drug war is raging yet pharmaceutical are making bank producing legal drugs. People are dying from ingesting bad drugs, especially the "molly" these days. If those drugs were pure you would know exactly what you were taking. Even things like heroin. If you bought a bag you would know the purity of it and have a better idea what you need and what's too much.

It wasn't an edm festival.. The owner of the property Jimmy was bass player and front man for the grateful dead tribute called The Schwag that played every night during the festival.

If you're going to be a douche, at least have some idea what the fuck you're talking about. This was far from an edm festival. Shockingly there exist other festivals without electronic music. There are actually A LOT of festivals that aren't electronic music.
