What info have you guys found about whether or not VT and NH will have a good snow season??
Farmers almanac says its going to be similar to last year (which was pretty good) but other sources are saying we are going to have a very mild winter
We will have rain, sleet, graupel, and snow. It will be warm, mild, cold, and absolutely fucking freezing. There will be sun, clouds, and possibly a mix.
living in the present... 5 days ago they had this rainstorm as all snow. 2 days out it changes to 3 inches of rain and a wintry mix. And your sources have the winter figured out.
I hate these threads. Meteorologists can barely even predict the weather for a week in advance, let alone an entire season. just wait it out.. the snow will come.
You are right to an extent but there are certain patterns like the north atlantic oscillation that happen frequently so through looking at past winters, meteorologists can form fairly accurate models of general trends.
I will explain how it will work this year. This year the north atlantic oscillation is in its negative phase which means there is an abnormal amount of high pressure over greenland. The high pressure over greenland pushes low pressure systems further south. Low pressure = storms and precipitation. The high pressure over greenland causes a circular jet stream pattern where cold air from the west side of greenland is being brought down from canada. This cold air combines with the low pressure sitting over new England and bam snow.
Yes there will be variations. We will probably get some rain, we will probably get some high pressure weeks, but I think that judging by the strength of the North Atlantic Oscillation, we are bound to get some big dumps this winter.
Why would you take words straight from the website like that you fucker. Keep in mind that these are weather predictions, all it does is predict the obvious: that there will be snow. Sometimes more snow, sometimes less snow. It's not much different in the Midwest. As long as it is cold enough and it snows, it's fine. This isn't the west where you need snow to just dump so you can ski everything. The east and Midwest is so simple, with little to no backcountry type skiing. So as long as it is cold enough, you will ski. His is as far as I know, I am aware that there are some more backcountry like places in the east I think and there is some up in the U.P.
