So....I just booked a plane ticket to Australia. I've got a wedding in Adelaide on the 23 of December and I fly out of Sydney on January 6. What should I do in between? I am thinking hitch hike back to Sydney and surf the whole way but people seem to think that is unrealistic. What are the best parts in the south east?
I went to sydney/cairns for two weeks a couple years ago. the coolest things I did were white water rafting and canyoning. I also climbed the sydney harbour bridge which was really cool. And of course I did a lot of surfing and some scuba diving
Adelaide to sydney is a 14 hour drive if you go straight through the middle. Around the coast would easily be 40 hours. If you've got time that would be cool. But very tough.
If you're into surfing head to the Gold Coast. Burley heads is one of the best surf spots in the world supposedly. And theres tones of places to surf around there. Don't get fooled though. Surfers paradise is not great surfing. Cool place to spend time though.
Whoever said there wasn't much surfing on the coast....are you retarded?
Adelaide i'm not sure about, i'd bail after the wedding and go to Sydney. You're there over new years and Sydney harbor has one of the biggest firework shows in the world every year. Head down to the harbor and check that out. :) Someone said climb the bridge, i've heard that's pretty sick. There's heaps of surfing around Sydney. I wouldn't recommend hitching there though...flights shouldn't be TOO much?
If you want to hitchhike you definitely should. Best way to meet people and get some free couches to sleep on. Just have fun, it won't be hard in Australia.
