The quality isn't obviously as good, but otherwise I loved it.
I have fond memories of skiing park at Spirit. Weekends get fairly busy, but not as busy as Breck is any time/any day of the week. People there have a life, jobs, etc outside of skiing. You can have the hill to yourself in the morning on a weekday when people are in school. And on weekends, the park still isn't really crowded until 11am as people are recouperating from a a rought night prior And if you're older, you can enjoy skiing with your family. In Colorado--fuck that. Go skiing on the weekend when the kids are out of school and drive 70 miles/4 hours home? Fuck that
Skiing in Minnesota seems more genuine, old swedes in Volvos out there just enjoying life. People out west take it too seriously, where wanna-be-gangsters/old aspiring pros share the hill with image driven old men and gold digging women do it for the 'prestige' of it. Call me a hater, but living in Colorado I almost feel embarassed to be a skier in such a homogeneous population
I'm obviously a Minnesotan, because I miss the humbleness. Plus you don't get yelled at so much for straightlining in Minnesota. Vail resorts has gotten really bad about that in the last year or two
