Public or Private Highschool

It all depends on what school you choose. For me I live on the east coast. I started in a private middle school in 6th grade. I hated it there everyone was spoiled rich and dicks. The education was not even that good. But now I am a freshman at a different private school and I love it!! Everyone is so chill and nice and the education I get is great. In middle school I had a 2.8 GPA and now I have a 3.7. I am so glad I went to private school.

Its not too complicated. I am saying some of these prep schools have their grades LOOKED at differently than a public school. It is entirely possible, and I have seen it happen to multiple friends, family friends, and siblings.

I went to private school once. It was pretty cool, everyone had pet owls and the quidditch matches were pretty tight. A bunch of weird shit was happening there though, like trolls in the bathroom and soul sucking black things floating around so I just decided to go back to public school.

While many public highschools in the US are providing a decent education (I was fortunate enough to go to a very good one) there are many that do nothing acedemicly and struggle to provide a safe place for students. Others will simply process students through and do little to engage students or stop them from falling through the cracks.

Many here are quick to bash private highschools, or view them only as a path to a 'top 10 university' whatever the fuck that is. You are missing the picture. I have worked with young Americans who have come from a variety of high schools. There is a stark distinction in those who came from schools that looked after their students, and breed respect, competence, and a desire for excellence. This seems to have a greater affect on who they are as adults than whatever college or university they go to.

If it came down to it, I would eat nothing but cup-o-noodles IOT ensure my children attend a good highschool. Public or Private.

I do not have access to the data, but you can bet that most 'competitive' colleges/ universities keep data on how a various high school GPAs will predict a university GPA. My guess is that many schools have noticed that a kid who gets a 3.7 from Andover will tend to earn a higher GPA at their school than someone who earned a 3.7 GPA at Washington High School in Detroit (fictitious generalization). That said, it will be hard to argue against GPA inflation at the high rated Prep Schools. Same reason places like Stanford inflate their undergrad's GPAs. Parents are paying too much money to find out their students are below average, regardless of how good that average is.

No, just get good grades and go to a private COLLEGE where it actually matters.

I never said a B is an A. What I am saying is that schools will weigh their decisions knowing that a B at one of those top schools could be the same as an A at a lesser school. They will take that into consideration. I am not comparing the grades at the same school. I am comparing it between public and private.
