I just bought a thule ski rack...my skis fit but my friends bindings are right in the way of the rack so I can't put the locking bars down...my crossbars are fixed...what should I do so they fit? Thanks everyone!
Wouldn't the board stick out too much causing a lot of wind resistance which would really lower mpg....Also couldn't the board slide through the one rack landing on my roof?
Have the longer end sticking out the back and I do this with my roommates snowboard every weekend and have never had a problem with it slipping, if you clamp it down it shouldn't move, even if it did the tip or tail of the board would keep it from sliding off
ya my friend just throws his board with the bindings behind the rack keeps it from flopping around to much and it wont slide off because of the tip also it closes quite tight, and we take both highways and backroads no problemo!
Thanks. This is the first year/time I'm using a rack and I have no clue about these smart tricks..i also bought a fairing..should I put the skis upside down since there is no resistance underneath the rack?
doesnt really matter since the faring redirects the airflow up over it knd of anyway also the rack itself sits up quite high and pushes the air aroun, personal preference imo
Are you talking about the highback on the snowboard binding? There's an adapter piece you can buy for that (my RockyMounts rack came with it). Just make your friend buy it for you. That's what I did on my old car's bike rack for my car-less friend who had a fork with a thru-axle.
