is it recently that they went to paper thin bases cause I beat the shit out of my thalls from 07 with no base problems and also beat the shit out of my 2011 arvs with no base problems. I did delam the shit out of the arvs though.

At least you're a park skier. Shave off the excess and fill that shit in. You'll have a funky streak of color but she'll still live to see another day on the slopes. Now you gave them the first battle scar. Don't have to worry about scratching them now.

I feel the pain though. Def sucks to fuck something up first day. I've snapped a board the first day. Edge looks like it didn't get fucked at all. Def be careful early season if you're riding shit you like.

due to impact. Warranty voided. Also armada is picky on their warranty. I tried to warranty my arvs that delamed in both tails, nose, and right at where my nose of the binding was and they would not warranty them. I did however put 100 days on them in a year and did beat the living piss out of them.

With a good p-tex job you'll be set. Won't even notice it. My old ski had a core shot about an inch in diameter and was 2/3rds of the way through my ski. Filled that sucker up with p-tex and it never bothered me again.

go get that shit base welded at a shop if you want it done right. minor core shots can be fixed w/ p-tex yourself but gnarly shit needs a proper touch. source: i was that proper touch

/\ yea ptex would just fall out of that after a bit. go get it fixed properly. if i get core shots that aren't touching the edge i'll just leave them a lot of times, but one like that would make it a lot easier to rip an edge out.

DON'T P-TEX IT! Find a good shop who will base weld it. they can then lift the base weld up gently and put epoxy under the weld. will be good as new. At my shop in Whistler that'd be like 35-40 $ and you'd be good to go! as long as ur core isnt cracked...

So what the fuck do warranties cover? I mean if you buy skis and something is wrong before you ever ski them, then obviously it would be covered. But many factory issues in skis manifest themselves after doing normal ski things that arent insanely gnar.

I just pretend i never have a warranty and suck it up when i fuck up my shit and either try to fix it or buy a new thing.

They cover defects in the ski caused during the manufacturing process ie a defective core or a layer of epoxy that's too thin causing the ski to delaminate. Any "improper use" (hitting rails, landing on rocks, skiing on concrete during urban, etc.) voids the warranty because the problem may have been caused by that improper use. So if you contact the manufacturer and tell them your whole edge blew out after a long day of hitting rails in the park, they're going to tell you to fuck off because it's probably your own fault and the ski was built fin, as they well should.

See i know that and im fine with that. In fact ive never even tried to warranty a ski, but ive had friends who have been denied warranty for what doesnt make sense to me. One had a tip begin to delam after 2 weeks of skiing nothing but groomers and the rare park lap, but K2 didnt do shit since it was "impact related". Well no shit, the ski tip impacted snow, ice, the ground, and thats it. It just seems like the average skier voids any warranties they might have right away even for manufacture defects, like a shittily glued tip.

As soon as the ski touches a rail, you can throw the warranty out the window. Some companies are cool about it if the problem was clearly caused by something else (my friend's filthy riches snapped when he caught a tip trying a really small flat three. Even though he'd hit rails a shitload on them, on3p is giving him a new ski because it had to do with a defective core, not rail impact), but they have no legal obligation to do so, so that's all just good customer service. Most big companies like k2 and armada would simply lose too much money if they warrantied every kid who's ski fell apart after hitting rails, so they don't make any exceptions. Which is kind of shitty, but hey, just one more reason to buy skis from smaller local companies!

2 options, cut it bigger so you can base patch it.

or just use e-poxy that stuff works wonders, and would be alot cheaper fix. plus you can put dye in it to get the right colour.

ive never used it, but wouldnt it slide differently on snow than ptex? ive heard it stays in better but im wondering if its worth it to epoxy and then put a thin layer of ptex to cap it.

For durability you are better off just poxying the whole thing.... Ptex will just crack and come out due to the size.

take it to your local shop, if you do want to do it yourself, youll need something that blows hot air to liquify the poxy once its over the core shot.

dont worry about doing it neat etc. pile that shit up, then after its set (couple days is best) just use a stanley blade to make it flat.

You really wouldnt notice a difference in running speed as its not that big.

It happened in Mammoth I don't know how I'm assuming I hit a rock. All of a sudden my ski kept catching the snow and going the other direction, so i took them off and saw the damage. One skied it down and took it to a local shop. They are doing a base weld I'll post pictures of them after they are fixed.
