alright so i've been dating this girl for a couple years now and it's becoming more and more obvious that this will never work out in the long run (at least from my side of things). how do i break it off without a.) being a total dick or b.) dropping it on her out of nowhere

Option 1 is one of the worst ways you can deal with this situation, and for some reason a lot of people decide this is how they're going to break up, by not talking and becoming distant.

The second option you wrote, is in my opinion a way better one. Its always better to face a problem like this head on, then to be a little pussy, and hope it ends up resolving itself.

if somebody was going to end things with you though, wouldn't you rather get it over with and move on as soon as possible? rather than prolonging it and essentially being lead on for weeks or months more than was necessary if that person had already made up their mind?

idk, i see it as a self respect thing. if somebody doesn't want to be with me, fine, tell me and i'll be on my way. but don't disrespect me by pretending you're still interested when you're not ya know? that's just so degrading i feel like

Seriously this. My last relationship pretty much ended like this - I felt for months that he wasn't into it anymore and I became this clingy crazy person to hold on to him. If he had just said look, I don't want to be with you forever, I probably would have just picked up my toys and gone home and the both of us would have been saved a lot of hurt and anger. But in relation to my first post, don't waffle. Make the decision, rip the band-aid off and give the bitch time to heal.

i don't like it when things are pulled out from under the rug from me. I feel like for most break up, that's just the way it happens. You recluse yourself and give yourself time to think about what you want to do. then it happens.

that's just my personal opinion. not everyone wants it that way.

Really excited to hear your response, it was February 3. I highly doubt all of your friends and family are as dumb as you, and pretty sure they can read a calendar. And that p.m. was about something very personal a that a random friend wouldn't know. Also about three weeks ago you wrote scammer alert in my feedback, and when A mod asked you why you did it you said you were testing out bold text.
