J skis = old school og line skis

J skis are made in the same factory that the old line skis use to be made at. J skis is nothing more than og line skis with better graphics like kittens and snowboarders.

J skis will get progressively shorter over the next few years until they return to ski blade status. Jason Levinthal left Line because he felt the sport needed to move back in the right direction towards its blading roots, but K2 wouldn't have it. It all makes sense now...

seriously though, they really are similar to og line skis, with a hint of new (fatty edge/base). they are some killer sticks, it makes us sad that they arent offered to retailers. i hope he can make it work without ever being in shops. we're not all greedy! just the lame corporate ones...

My first Line skis. Graphic's a bit different though, mine had a ship on a roiling sea on the tails.

I guess I'll take that as a compliment if you're saying Line back in the day was awesome and this new J brand is awesome, so thanks!
However they actually are NOT made in the same factory. Back in the day after I was making them in Albany NY, we made Line skis in Cowansville quebec which the factory is no longer in existence. J skis are now made in Rimouski Quebec.

thats cause those are the line darksides in 182 cm. , if you had the ones with the ship on them those were skogans first pair of pro models i believe, and they came in a 178 cm ( the ones with the ship on the tail ) such sick skis tho ! both of em ! bring back the og line graphics !!

Bahahahahahaha... Yeah the OG Lines were no doubt born on the CNC.



I think the important thing is that it's JLev's baby again. He is 100% directing where he thinks this should go and with plenty of coin to make sure it's done right. In short, it's everything good about the old Line and none of the bad.


I'm excited to see what they come out with!

well those are the darksides.. if you had ones that look similar to that but with a ship on the back then you had the skogens, i had the same skis. come to think of it line had some sick graphics back in the day

i actually still think the mike nick pro snowblades (two years of which are posted above) had awesome graphics

nice, which ones? i think my mike nicks (the dark blue ones, with a dope tree/moonlight scene on the base) are probably somewhere in my parents' garage still

i would love to take them out but yeah i bet they're sketchier than i remember haha. i still remember the first day i put on skis again after bladin' for a few years and being like holy shit....this is amazing

Yeah those are the ones! They're wide as fuck too for blades.

They really are the sketchiest things ever. You can't be forward or backseat or you'll fall instantly so you need to be totally neutral at all speeds. Try to turn them and they just do this sort of speed wobble/wiggle sort of thing. It really is incredibly terrifying. I did one run and was like "fuck this"

yeah i'd have to be really careful and/or drunk if i tried them out again, i'm not a backseat bandit but i def would fall at least twice being in the backseat. not to mention the fear i get just thinking about those non releasable bindings..

Are the new skis at all similar to the old Anthems?

That ski was basically my favorite ski I've ever ridden. It was fantastic for park as well as riding all mountain. It was 'only' 178, and I'm 6'1" and was about 200lbs back then. I never found them too short in the slightest bit....

I can't wait to get my feet into a pair of these new ones and give 'em a god.

Since this thread is now about old Line skis, I still ski these as my early season ski. The cores are completely effed up with well over a hundred days on them (might be approaching 200 at this point) and you can sharpen them as much as you want and they won't hold and edge on ice, but they still have no core shots or edge damage despite seeing an unholy number of rocks, branches, roots, and any other punishment you could conceive of on a ski hill.

Every day so far this season has been on 'em. Probably the best skis to ride switch on I've ever used. Not to mention one of the best graphics of all time, IMO.

That's right, I remember now. I had the 182 Darksides as my first twins (the ones pictured), then got the Skogens with the ships the next year.

I'll never forget how sick those first Line graphics were. No one was making skis that looked anything close as cool. I saw a picture of like the 00/01 lineup from a demo in my local newspaper... I'm pretty sure I still have the article clipped out and stashed somewhere.

Same, these had a DJ graphic on the bottom or something didn't they??? Delammed in the tips and line warrantied em with the ninja graphic model. Still riding on like 2006ish chronic wides too ha.

What is crazy is that those were the original backcountry pow ski.. along with the Pocket Rocket.. any clue on the sidecut/waist on those??

Since it is a throw back thread now - back in HS when I used to actually like moguls (they can now go fuck themselves) these were probably my favorite mogul skis of all time. Sorry for the shitty photo. Only one I could find of the red topped version.

Basically so soft and damp that you could just point it over moguls and the skis would just absorb them entirely.

ahh. still remember skiing on these during the stratton demo with Jay himself and doing lincolns off the sun tanner park with him. riding up the lift talking about what the plans for line were and how they were making them stiffer (their old skis i may or may not have told him without realizing it was him because of ski goggles etc.. that they sucked because they were so soft) then he tells my rep (stefan at the time) to give me a pair for the season to see the improvements over the last year.

yup.. im claiming and i dont care!
