This is a really sad forum on a great website. Skiing in itself is one of the most amazing natural highs as all of us know; the need to augment this further with artificial stimulants/depressants/ psychodelics etc. seems both crazy and extremely dangerous. Some of the drugs discussed on this forum are spoken about like they are candy, they are NOT.
As a physician only 6 months into my residency career, I can speak of far too many stories already about the deleterious effects of most of these drugs. For those of you experimenting with heroin, just STOP, it will 100% ruin your life. Anyone who tries to argue otherwise is a fool. Some people are talking about dilaudid and oxycodone, these are controlled substances for a reason. You really should not be using these substances. As for cocaine, I have taken care of a few young patients (mid 20's) who have had heart attacks while using cocaine (along with its euphoria it also leads to vasoconstriction/ spasm of blood vessels).
I know the last thing you want on this forum is a preachy mom/ doctor to tell you to stop doing your drugs, but I felt like someone needed to weigh in on the negative aspect of these substances. I don't condone any drug use, but if you have to use something why not just stick with weed? I know of no story yet of any doctor having to treat someone for marijuana overdose. There is a reason some states are legalizing its use. There is also a reason no state is ready to legalize mushrooms, heroin, cocaine, acid etc.
My last two cents: Evolution designed our brains to reward us for things worth rewarding and to not reward us for things not worth rewarding. If you fall it should hurt, if you slash a powder turn it should feel amazing. Your brain will tell you these things on its own in the right proportion, why distort that balance?
Hope you all continue to enjoy the ski season, may the powder gods shine on everyone!
