we need to completely get rid of every racing company... support line,4frnt, armada, liberty, ninthward, whoever else


fuck salomon, volkl, and all those other companies, we need to completely isolate ourselves from them, it still seems their biggest athletes aren't supporting us and as long as we keep buying salomon skis and volkl and all those other racing companies we will never get anywhere...

line will never be the burton of skiing because salomon is still trying to advertise themselves as the big player...

sure some of the big companies make good skis... but the little companies are better,

support orage, and siver, not the big time clothing companies, only core companies, they make the sickest stuff

look at snowboarding outerwear... look how fucking sick those companies are now... analog, ronin, mission 6, holden, special blend, grenade,

they have the absolute sicket things , skiing companies have nothing on them, because salomon and rossi and all thsoe companies rather support racing culture...

orage is pushing it with some of their new stuff... but just wait we can get there we just need to push for it...

i have rossi scratch right now, my next ski will be 4 front probaly and I will never ride a non independent company again.

i think rossi is alright, i actually like rossi alot, and K2 is fine, but salomon, fuck naw, volkl fuck naw, atomic maybe, but i think rossi and k2 are def the best BIG ski companies

rossi, k2, they make good product... but they are not independent... the scratch is a good ski... foudnation for many other modesl by different compnies

atomic is ahuge into racing i will never buy a ski from them...

i know they sponsor sick skiers like rex thomas and such... and I know the guy reps thema nd depends on them... but i will never support them... the pro skiers need to take a chance and sign up with a independent companuy... look at the biggest player... jp jf vinnie... they all took the chance because they are in it from the start to progess the sport... this is where we need to go... completely away from race companies

K2 should be an exeption cause they do a lot for the sport, I'm sure the Factory Team is run by riders, so it would make i just like armada, a rider owned company backed by larger groups.

i saw siver stuff and it looked like the shittiest stuff ever, like they ordered it from mexico or something and then just screenprinted thier logo on it to make a few bucks. burton actually has thier act together and makes really high quality stuff. but yeah overall, spending some extra cash for the core companies is good as long as they make a good product.

^ first off i dont think thats true, but anyway all companies have to start somewhere. burton was some ghetto shit when it started, he made the boards in his garage and sold them out of his pickup. but the point is just to get the money flowing into these companies so they can make even better shit

yeah salomon has not done a good job lately. K2 makes so sick stuff and even though they are considered a 'big' company i would never turn away from their skis for that reason at all. just like i would rather buy some rossi scratches rather than get some liberty shit just because its more 'core'.

yeah, k2's pretty cool, as for the siver stuff, its' pretty stylie and stuff, they're just highly lacking in the important stuff, it's like not waterproof at all.

Volkl makes an incredible product, probably one of the best twins out there right now. i think that if the company makes a good product, i'll support them. i dont have that great a cash flow, so i'd rather go with a ski that is proven. I own a pair of lines i bought a couple years ago that were on special, they turned out to be pretty good skis, now i hear that their skis have improved dramatically since i bought mine, the next pair of skis i buy will be Line.

i dunno, i wasnt thinking when i wrote that, i guess what i mean is that unless i can get the skis for a low price, im not gonna buy em till they are proven to be a solid ski that appeals to my kind of skiing

dfrsh you gotta think of something...rossi modeled some of the first good twins and ure saying not to ride them...have fun. i will ride rossis and k2 cuz they are sick...same with salomon...they are good too. most the ski companies out right now are good

i dont understand why salomon isnt cool. didnt they, along with line, practically invent the twintip?

^yeah, volkls are great, and stockli from switzerland makes race skis, and from what ive heard all there skis are extremely well made

stockli's are incredible, a friend of a friend came back from europe with a pair, and they shredded better than just about any ski ive ever been on, but i havent been on a race ski in a while...

oh, and shaggy, judging by the fact that both my friend and i rode volkl twins, and they both disintegrated, i must disagree; do not buy volkl. they are a race company, and they make mediocre twin tips.

So does that mean riders like Candide have it figured all wrong?
Its good to support the indie small companies...but I will support any skiing company before a snowboarding one.....(cause I dont snowboard). K2, Volkl, Salomon..etc are still very small players in a market (twin tip/freeride skis) that isn't that big right now.....but its growing and that what we should all hope for! When it comes down to it....its your cash...do what you want...but support a ski company!

Without Salomon we wouldn´t have for example PBP movies. Salomon is the biggest sponsor every year in skiing movies and they have great skiers in their team (Olenick, Dumont). First twin tip ski was Salomon. Salomon sponsored in the beginning skiers like JF Cusson, JP Auclair and Vinnie Dorion.

Now I have Teneightys which have broken once and they instantly gave me new ones for free. It´s a good ski but my next ski is probaply going to be K2. Line or 4front would be nice but they don´t sell it here.

I'll buy Orage or Siver outerwear when they start making good stuff with waterproofing over 5,000mm. Siver's stuff sucks. They need to make it for people other than park rats and east coast skiers. When it's snowing 2 inches and hour 3,000mm just doesn't cut it.

Okay.. to everyone saying that Siver's outerwear is poor quality.. Have you had a chance to check it out in person?
The Stuka is awesome, it's got tons of features like those neat things you stick your hand threw, powder skirt and a bunch of other stuff you would find on a quality jacket. And from tap tests it seems plenty waterproof.

When I break my Pocket Rockets again, if they don't warranty them (again - they've been really good to me with warranty), I'll be happy to support a smaller rider-owned company. I just need to try these skis before I buy them. I bought PRs because I demoed them at Whistler and loved them. Do they offer these other brands as demos/rentals too?

Dfresh - I dont give a fuck how the top athletes think of me or how salomon, rossi and the big names think of me or what I do. Fuck them. If they put out a better product than these 'core companies' (which they usually do) then I am going buy from them and not the core companys. besides the core companys are doing the same thing the big companies are trying to do, just earn a buck and have a profitable company. I dont give a fuck about suppourting newschool companies, I ski to ski and will buy the best equiptment available no matter who puts it out.

You are admitting that siver puts out shitty stuff but you are still telling me to suppourt them in the hopes that someday they will be able to put out a better product? A business is a business, I dont give a shit if its core to the movement or not. These indy companies that are coming out are going to have to put out a much better product before they see my money.

I'll buy quality. I have a pair of Public Enemies and Seth Pistols. Both quality products. I want to venture out to the smaller companies, but I don't see myself breaking my skis anytime soon....especially my pistols (those things are like sherman tanks). Though I do agree with supporting smaller companies, IF they put out the same quality as the larger companies. But then again, companies like 4frnt, Line, Armada..etc MUST know that they aren't going to compete with the larger companies until the freeskiing movement shows an even larger interest.

orage is jsut as good as burton. on average i would say they make more stuff of better quality. and its cheaper. and its a ski company.

The only thing about the smaller commpanies is that they cannont mass produce like larger, less rider based companies. I am not saying I would rather ride a cheap crappy ski made from a company that doesnt support our style and riders, but the general public would rather pay a small price for a big company ski, then a higher one made by a smaller company such as line, or buy clothes like from Siver.

221, you're wrong. 4FRNT's use their own tooling and are built out of Huntington Beach, Cali, USA.

And to those of you who think supporting the smaller comapnies is a waste of time based on quality, you're on crack.
Armada uses one of the most technologically advanced factories in the world, and produces some truly unique skis (T-Hall). 4FRNT's use the latest in press technology, and are built to last (2 year warranty).
When's the last time you snapped a Rossi or de-lamed a Salomon? It makes me SICK to see these companies pushing crap products on you guys and you're still buying it. They're fooling you with all their little technological 'advancements' (THC, Spaceframe), that really don't do a damn thing. The guys running these companies think freeskiing is a joke, and could care less if it lasts. They're just cashing in.
They'll never listen to their riders' needs. They take their riders' input on construction, and try to build the cheapest model possible.

When will you wake up? This is the chance to take the sport BACK.

And sorry to burst some of your bubbles, but K2 is as guilty, if not more, than the other guys. K2 is by far one of the largest conglomerates in the sporting world. Besides K2 Skis, they own Volkl, Marker, Marmot, Rawlings, K2 Bike, K2 Snowboards, Morrow Snowboards, paintball comapnies, etc.
Although they do support freeskiing in a way other larger companies have not, they are guilty of producing some crap products (Fugative).

My question is this...Why do you wish to continue to support a company who thinks you're an IDIOT?
Why not support someone who's embracing you and your side of the sport.

221 is actually partially right... have you priced a ski press up lately. Most of these 'core' companies have bought used presses from larger companies...

you guys are fuckin hilarious... so at what point should I start/stop byuing from a particular company? Only if its rider owned? As long as its struggling to make ends meet, but once it realizes to make money and survive it has to appeal to the masses more(like what line has down with the assassin, etc).

don't believe the hype, you've been lied to.

I will continue to buy the products that are high quality and perform the best. Im not saying I don't support the small guy, but I work hard for my $$ too and want gear thats good and will last/have a good warranty, etc.
