Hmm, lets see.
Subaru got rid of the wagon, and replaced it with the Levorg which hasn't even been anounced to ever make it to North America
For all markets other than Euro and Japanese, they're running a revised EJ25 platform, even in the STis, while those lucky two get an FA20DIT.
STi is coming in a sloshbox automatic option
The front end is okay, but the rear end is horrendous, huge interior improvement.
It looks like Subaru ate a Camry, a Lexus IS, a Taurus, shot some testosterone, then pooped out this thing with a Subaru badge.
IMHO, Subaru North America is shitting the bed right now. *Hopefully* us in NA will get a more aggressive facelift and a boosted FA motor by 2017. Subaru has usually made some kind of statement in the body style (Think GDA, GDC bodies. The bugeye was WEIRD and the Hawkeye was far more aggressive than most performance cars in 2006) and we've been dealing with the same engine platform that is extremely inefficient at producing power under boost and is notoriously unreliable with more boost/modifications past Stage II. Don't get me wrong, I love my EJ20G and it's a ton of fun to drive, especially with a TD05 @ 16psi in a GC chassis, but lets put this in perspective: we have literally had the same engine since 1993 in the WRX and STi plus or minus .2 or .5 of a litre of displacement.
Without a new motor, or other significant changes to the drivetrain, the WRX and STi have been falling straight downhill since 2007.
