Carbon is really resistant to changing its form, so when you bend it (ollie or pop) its just spose to snap back to its original form faster. I guess its so you get good pop and your ski keeps its pop longer.

As i was watching the Line manufacturing vid i noticed the carbon band was relly flimsy--i dont think it does anything.

Ridiculous

A band of pre-stretched, equally-spaced carbon fiber stringers are laminated to the top of the core from tip to tail.

Reduced swing weight with lots of pop for ollieing onto rails and boosting out of the pipe.

right from the source....

basically it means.. less weight.. more pop.. and it will overall extend the life of the ski

^have you ever seen fiberglass without any epoxy on it? it is like cloth, the epoxy hardens it rock hard. the ollie band is set in fiberglass and then some epoxy is added to make it stiffer

i dont trust the ollie band...at my pysio they have a carbon ollie rod for fore arm strenghtening and its quite thick and its flimy as hell when vibrations or force are added.

i can see these olliebands adding to extra chatter when carving hard or at high speeds cause they shake like crazy once they get going so once you start, its going to keep chattering

lots of skis have one of these. armadas do for sure, scratches, stl's prolly lots of others. that was one of the changes to the ar5's this year was more carbon fiber stringers in the tail. and the tanners too. lots of snowboard companies do this too. it's just something to give it a little bit more pop

carbon is definately not flimsy. You can drive over a carbon fiber hood for a car and it won't even bend, it can support the weight. Carbon ollie bands in skis increase the response of a ski as far as flexing from tip to tail, giving the ski more pop

more on carbon: The stiffness depends on the way it is formed. It is generally good at dampening vibrations, which should mean that stringers will give a smooth boost to the ollie.
I wonder if its just price that keeps more of it from being used in a ski, because it seems that a carbon/fiberglass weave for the whole ski would be very nice.

Im going to be on wides this year, and even just flexing them you can tell theyre way poppier. When i release the wide, it snaps back immediately with almost no wobble. Compare that to say my 1260's, where when i release them they flop back into place. And it just makes sense that carbon fiber would elongate ski life.
